HOW DO I PATCH This Game(So I Can Get Online)....

Hello Folks,

Hope someone can help put me straight...lol

Just bought IL2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles and The Ace Expansion Pack....Now stay with me on this one....I'm just trying to put everything down that is going through my head...and it's 04:45 in the morning and I have work in 4hrs.

Right, I installed both the games and when I strat the game doesnt matter which disk I use IL2 or the AEP it always starts up with the AEP screen saying V 2.0...thats fine.

How please stay with me on this....I installed the ubi play online jobby...you have two lobbys you can use the IL2: FB or IL2:FB Ace.

Still reading..thank you...Now this is where things go pear shaped for me. The ACE servers seem to be mainly using 4.04m and on the DOGfight 1.22. Do I have to think of IL2 and IL2 Ace as two seperate games. My experience with PC games is that you can only use one patch at a time. So do I have to choose which one I amn going to stick with.

My second problem is how do I get the ACE up to 4.04m I have been on ubi support pages but there is no metion of these patchs. With the ACE they only go up to patch 2.01..so do I install this first. Ubi say that you must have 4.03 installed before using 4.04m or 4.04

Bored Yet...Now regarding IL-2 they say if it is just out of the retail pack you have to install patch 1.1a then 1.2 then I presume you can install patch 1.22.

So my question is(Thank God Say's You)If I patch IL-2 using the patches metioned above can I also install the patches for the ACE Expansion pack(2.04, 4.03, 4.04m) or do you have to choose which game you want to stick with...so to speak. or can you simply install all these patches and play on server which has ACE 4.04m and IL-2 1.22

Hope someone grasps what I'm blabbin on about.

You are talking about versions of the game spread out over 8 years. Some people still play these older versions online but not many.


With older game versions you must match the server version which may be original IL2, Forgotten Battles, Ace Expansion Pack, Pacific Fighters, FB+AEP+PF merged or Il2 1946.

The simplest solution if you find you like the game is to eventually buy IL2 1946. This includes all the older versions, takes you to 4.07 and only needs one patch (4.08m).

Also if you are serious about online play you are better off eventually flying on Hyperlobby not UBI and almost all servers on HL are actually 4.08m the dedicated server for IL2 1946.

Why did you buy that and not just everything in one wich most people play? IL2-1946...

Anyway you Only need Patch v2.01 and v2.04 from here if you only got FB and AEP.

All the patches for FB it self where included in AEP so you dont need to download them.

Ace doesnt go further than 2.04, after that is Pacific Fighters wich is 4.04m so if you see a server that says you need 4.04m you can not play on it untill you Buy Pacific Fighters.

IL2-1946 is all versions in one 1 DVD, IL2 Forgoten Battles, IL2 Ace, IL2 Pacific Fighters, IL2 PE-2, IL2 Manchuria and IL2 1946.

Most people that did not get IL2 1946 will have IL2 FB, Ace, and PF. and if you didnt buy Pacific Fighters also i dont think you find to many people to fly with online.

But like i said, almost everyone bought 1946 wen it came out.

THATS A BUNCH OF CRAP! 1946 is NOT "ALL VERSIONS IN ONE" It does NOT have previous versions as advertised. It has ONE version: 4.08m You cannot play it on UBIs site. Personally, I like 2.04 and like a *******, I believed the marketing bs from ubi and bought 1946. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY

Oh, c'mon now, no need to get that upset...

1946 has the contents of 2.04... and of all other versions... so, it is "all versions in one"

Use The Hyperlobby Client (http://hyperlobby.sk) to play 1946 online, lots of ppl. there, many more than on "Ubi's site".

Lol, thats pretty funny. You have no idea what you're on about but you're mad at ubi for it, lol. 1946 is il2 version 4.07m which is to say all the content from forgotten battle on up to the 1946 expansion all on one dvd. All the other versions you can buy separately and install them merged and make it up to 4.07 but you will have spent two to three times as much money just to get to the same place. Playing on ubi.com is not a real option anyway as the vast majority of il2 players play on hyperlobby.

Il2:1946 contains everything 2.04m has and beyond.

Gusford, the cheapest and best option is unfortunatley to ditch what you have already bought and bite the bullet, buy the IL2:1946 compilation.

Its cheap enough now to forget the otehr versions you bought.

What country do you live in? There are some cheap copies on ebay here in the UK :-

Although it might be possible to upgrade your 2.04 to 4.08m, it would be time consuming, difficult, confusing and much more expensive.

With 1946 you get a single install which just needs one small patch and you are ready to play online with the latest version. 2.04 means seeking out and buying 4 more addons, every other free patch and getting everything in the right order on the time consuming install.

Sorry for the bad news, but thats the one downside of a game which is constantly updated with new stuff.

The good news is that 1946 is packed full with over 200 flyable planes and other great stuff.

IL2 1946 is the best bang for the buck it contains:

IL2 Forgotten Battles (FB1.0)- the original sequel to IL2.
IL2 Aces Expansion Pack (FB2.0) - The first add on for Forgotten Batles introducing more of the E.T.O.
IL2 Pacific Fighters (FB3.0) - The add on that brought you to the Pacific theater in this sim. Pacific Fighters could be played as a stand alone or an add on to Forgotten Battles (and this per the community's request to the developer mind you..). Most people preferrd to fly the sim merged with Forgotten battles as it gave you more choices.
IL2 Peshka- 2 (Pe-2) (FB4.0)- The first of the smaller add ons to FB 3.0 originally planed as a $20 add on
IL2 Sturmoviks Over Manchuria - The second of a planned smaller add on that was scrapped as a seperate add on and bundled into IL2 1946.
IL2 46 - Originally the third add on planned as a post 1945 scenario utilizing some of the advanced secret aircraft that Germany had in the works.
IL2 1946 (FB4.07) became an all in one add on partly because of the confusion because of the
FB GOLD (FB+AEP) and FB Complete (FB+AEP+PF) editions that came out during various times in the sim's life. IL2 1946 is indeed all of the versions of the sim on one DVD. There are 2 official patches for this 4.07m & 4.09b1 which would bring you up to date with just about everyone who is flying thye sim online. Because of the fact that there is no dedicated server yet for 4.09b1 and most dogfight servers are running 4.08 there is a switching program available that will allow you to switch between versions. There is also a vast array of unofficial mods for the sim, however these mods are not supported by the sims developer (Maddox 1C games) or the publisher (Ubisoft) but some of them are quite nice and address many issues that heretofore were not addressable.

"BONUS DISC CONTAINS: *4 previous IL2 games-the complete collection. *IL2 Sturmovik *IL2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles *Pacific Fighters *Ace Expansion Pack...(etc).

Based on this, I should have the option of installing any one or more of these games as I wish. Suppose I don't care for HL, or my PC is barely making min requirements...I may opt to play 1.22 on UBI server. Guess what? NOT POSSIBLE. One Version. One game that has of all the content from previous versions. The marketing and packaging is misleading and inaccurate.

YOU try to keep up...k? IL2 is not in here... IL2 or shpould I say the missions from IL2 were incorporated into FB.. it is a slightly different engine.. the only part of the entire series that was ever meant to be played as a stand alone other than the original FB was PF. Now if you dont want to deal with that then fine.. but enough of the condecension ..
