Haven-Mangree/camoudile puzzle, Bula Rae; help!
I'm totally intimidated by this puzzle. Watched the video and almost cried. I've made a copy of my saved game [hope it's right, it's in "computerese"]. Could I send it to you? My hands shake a bit at age 70,so I can't play fast enough. I did finally make it through the spider chair and the mangree/totem but it was a near thing. I do want to finish Myst IV and would be so grateful. Many thanks, Joanie Gray

ladygray, I'd like to encourage you to try first before sending BulaRae your savegame. If you did the Spire chair then you probably will be able to do this one. I'm 59 and I was able to do it. Since the only time in this puzzle that you need to be quick is at the end, once you have the white-haired mangree in the left nest and are one mangree move from getting the camoudile in the pit, save your game. If you miss, just re-load the saved game and try again. Dave

Dave Mc_B, thanks for your encouragement. I've gotten into the puzzle and although I'm not at the point yet where I can call in the pitcher, it's much more fun than the Spider Chair. Now I'm psyched about solving it, and I wouldn't have been without your cheering me on.

Hi ladygray14,

We are very happy that you will give it your best shot.

I have noticed many times in the past that when people know there is a possible "emergency exit" and with good friends like Dave_McB around and ready to give a hand, people are then more inclined to try to do it on their own because they, now, know they will be able to finish the game. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Greetings, fellow fruit baseball coaches. I'm able to get the camoudile in the pit [chasing the last mangree transfer] but mostly my pitcher doesn't show up because I'm too slow. The few times he did show up and shot off a couple of fruits it was too late, the camoudile had done a walk. I'm on my 3rd and last mouse which I think may be the best, but not good enough. I just don't seem to be fast or accurate enough with the signal to the guy on the mound [or in the nest]. I'm so close but I'm losing the pennant. I don't want to retire yet, so can y'all help me with any tips? I do start the signal as soon as I see the mangrees switch--I think it's a speed/accuracy issue. Boy, have I been in Spring Training; about 6 hours so far. Help!

The camomile is Toast!--at least temporarily. I went back to watch the video [thank you!] and realised that the turns he made were not precise as I'd been trying [1/4, 3/4, which actually slowed me down] but rather. relative and it seemed to me, based on the sound balances, like BulaRae's "S-O-S" analogy. When I listened, rather than trying to hit the exact place on the wheel, I could get the mangrees to switch around and not too long after, old Whitey [Ford? was he a pitcher?] came through. So I would say to anybody who's stuck, watch the video after you've become familiar with this puzzle. The Spire video was elegant but I really couldn't see the moves. This video really helped. Thanks, everybody. I love this Forum.

Well done ladygray, way to hang in there. Doesn't it feel great to have done it yourself? Dave

Boy, does it! It's also great that we seniors [tho 59 is now the new 40 and 70 is the new 51] can have so much fun playing the Myst games.I want to thank you again and hope you're around if I get bogged down in Serenia. Also, this will be my last Myst game--I've played them all except Uru [I'm on a Mac]. If you have any tips about games similar to the Myst series I'd be eternally grateful.

Hi ladygray14.

You can check a long list that was made sometime ago...click here (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/7741041362/m/1311081863/r/1311081863#1311081863)

My personnal choices, in no particular order are

1- Mysterious Journey 2
2- Syberia 1 & 2
3- The Egyptian Prophecy
4- Dark Fall, Lights Out
5- Return to Mysterious Island
6- Aura
7- And if you like a really big "brain" game. SCHIZM would be the best and hardest of them all. (from memory, no timed puzzles) just pure brain power. About 90% of the people who started the game never got to the end.
8- The first two Broken Sword games. (I would not recommend #3 because it is a full keyboard controlled game with very thight, timed puzzles, and the need to use four keys at the same time)

That should keep you busy for a week or two. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Do not forget to first check if they are Mac compatible.

Hi all! I'm sorry I was unavailable working for the Maui Film Festival this past week, but I'm thrilled to come and see the awesome support you got from Dave and Nanouk. They are wonderful helpers and even though they do not have 'Moderater' under their names, they do an awesome job as if they are and I am always grateful for their assistance.

Great going, LadyGray! I'm so glad you were persistent!

Hi Simon,

In case you have not noticed, this a Myst 4 forum.

A good place where to ask for help would be at GameBoomers which covers all games...
For the GameBoomers spoilers forum...click here (http://www.gameboomers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=1&page=1&PHPSESSID=da493f5d74114af56580b2fc28f12cde)

I also suggest you first read their instructions on how to ask for help...
Read GameBoomers guidelines...click here (http://www.gameboomers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=201595&PHPSESSID=da493f5d74114af56580b2fc28f12cde#Post201 595)

Good luck.
