ANy of the old SH3 forum members already probably have this, but any of the new members who drifted in because of SH5 and are interested in the Enigma machine should really like this.

Enjoy (http://users.telenet.be/d.rijmenants/en/enigma.htm)

Just a word of warning, if you are coding messages to send to friends, make sure you're doing it right, or you will soon find yourself without any friends if they spend hours trying to decode gibberish...

This would be great in-game. Perhaps an easier varient to make it more fun but still really cool.

I suggest use this simulator:
Enigma Simulator (http://users.telenet.be/d.rijmenants/en/enigmasim.htm)

Or if I want to get fancy considering I have used this program in the past in conjunction with SH III.

BDU 0524/17/107 1 FMG MEO

MMPJS CZPLT WAXEZ SOBUV BBWQT PKDHW DQJSS FBBMO WBHZZ ASBJS JNOLF VRPAC AOEZD IPG

Which for those that can decode this and figure it out if you succesfully decode it right, you will find out I am stating its easy to use this system once you get the hang of it. It is just complicated to duplicate orignal style messages easily.

I highly recommend this:

Enigma-E (http://www.xat.nl/enigma-e/)

Just finished building mine, and it works beautifully. Next job is building the case!

Here you can also download the M-209 cyper machine which the u.s military used during ww2.

LINK (http://users.telenet.be/d.rijmenants/en/m209sim.htm)

It utilized a less complex cyper method, at least relatively compared to the more sophisticated Enigma.

Cryptoanalysts of the german Abwehr led by Reinhold Weber managed to break into its code by mid 1943. Nonetheless the u.s military continued to use the M-209 during the Korean war.

Very cool thread about the Engima. I see some of you guys have made messages but if I could just point out that you need to put in a few 'nulls' to be authentic.

A null is a couple of random letters at the end of your sentence so that all the blocks of sent text are 5. You guys have the last words as 4 or 2.

This helped Alan Turin and his secret code breakers at Station-X aka Bletchley Park to crack these codes even easier.

I know its just a bit of fun but if you want to do it historically then this is what they did.
