"The actor Heath Ledger was found dead this afternoon in an apartment in Manhattan owned by the actress Mary-Kate Olsen, according to the New York City police. Mr. Ledger was 28.

At 3:31 p.m., a masseuse arrived at Apartment 5A in the building, at 421 Broome Street in SoHo, for an appointment with Mr. Ledger, the police said. The masseuse was let in to the home by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of Mr. Ledger's bedroom. When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Mr. Ledger naked and unconscious on a bed, with pills scattered around his body. They shook him, but he did not respond. They immediately called the authorities.

The police said they did not suspect foul play. The police said they believed Ms. Olsen, 21, was in California and said it was not clear why Mr. Ledger was in her apartment."

I can't freaking believe it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif I wonder how this will affect The Dark Knight.

That sucks...

I've never heard of him though.

Filming is done on the Dark Knight, so it wont effect the movie to much. However Im sure most of the post-filming stuff will be dedicated to him in some way (as far as I know, he wasnt horribly disliked).

That sucks. Just goes to show that you shouldnt take ANYTHING in pill form unless its been prescribed to you (excluding aspirin types). Its always a pill away from ODing.

I always wonder why people care about this much more then they would any other person, alot of people on myspace are posting bulletins saying RIP to him and all that.Dont get me wrong thats not bad at all,and its really sad.But why dont people make a topic or a bulletin if they hear about someone that died and they saw it on the news? After all he is only a man,hes not any better or worse,we are all equal.

Sure he might have been in good movies,he might have been a favorite actor of yours, but even too the people that arent connected to him,why is it different when something happens to someone famous but it doesnt to the common joe?Millions of people have heard of this guy sure, but what about the guy you heard that died on the news, only a handful of people knew that guy,but it doesnt effect people like you or me.

Ive been wondering this since the Anna Nicole tragedy.

Yeah, I agree. Lots of people are murdered, raped, or killed in car accidents (mostly car accidents) where I live, but yet no one rally cares. This really irritates me http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

But Ledger was a good actor. And VTAssault, are you sure The Dark Knight is done? I hope it doesn't get cancelled. RIP Ledger http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif

For one, not everyone on this earth is as well known as a celebrity. Hence the name, therefore when they die more people know about it.

Also, there are 6 billion people on this planet and only about 1 million actors. So its like someone in a very large family dying.

@pheonix according to IMDB its in post production. Its also supposed to be released this year. Filming ends at least 8 months before a movie is realeased. Then all the editing and media coverage starts.

I believe Fox News(where I saw it) said that the filming was done.

Because I find they are the best news source.

just because a film is done doesnt mean its ready to be out. Films are edited at the last minute all the time and sometimes do require reshots after a preimer (eg Matrix 3, T2, star wars ep3, batman returns, the new superman film - most has reshots 3 weeks before their release dates). His death could end up pushing the date back.

If nolan does decide to do reshots he will either use a body double or cgi it together. But what sucks is now the third film in the trilogy will be heavily rewritten with him dead.
There will be reshoots for at least Aaron Eckhart that is for sure.

then you need to watch a Knights Tale he is very good in this movie. i was saddened when i heard that he had died and at such a young age. and his daughter will never really get to know her father, i think that she is 2 years old.

The Mary-Kate Olsen thing was a rumor though. Its not true. It wasnt her place.

Some guy at school told me something about how he really really gets into his characters, and that the Joker was such a messed up and evil character it made him have problems sleeping and just functioning.

Not sure of the accuracy of these, but hell if its true I CANT WAIT TO SEE THE DARK KNIGHT. Seriously, not meaning to be callous or anything, but a character so evil that it drives a man literally to the brink of insanity...

As for you Pheonix... Not saying that fox news is bad, but they are incredibly biased. Its hard to believe alot of their stuff, because most of its taken out of context to fit the view of the show. Im not saying that any liberal network would be any better... but still.

Me and my girlfriend heard about it in the car on my way home from work at the mall. We went back to the mall right away, and bought two of the joker T-shirts from HOt Topic-- one for her. one for Ebay.

The people on the radio announced it as if he were a nobody from a 3rd world country. I almost didnt believe it at first.

Yeah, I heard he had trouble sleeping too. I don't know if it's directly related to the character, but they made it seem like it was.

yes its true, ledger said once he idolized early careers of brando and pacino (brando and pacino both stayed in character until a film was done).

Nothing in this world is unbiased, its only the degree of a media or person's bias that changes. Fox of course being extremely biases, but even cnn, nbc, cbs, cbc can be extremely biases at times.

I don't trust FOX NEWS at all. I don't trust most news at all actually, but FOX is one of the worst.

Apparently his role as joker caused some type of insomnia and other minor mental problems. It's strange but nothing you guys haven't heard... it's a shame too, he was a really good actor. Didn't seem like your average snob.
I still think the Steve Irwin death was more tragic.
