View Full Version : PC Download Version - Insert CD Error

Purchased and downloaded R6 Vegas 2 a couple nights ago. Installed fine and was pleased to see autoupdate upgrade to v1.03. However that quickly changed when the game wouldn't launch because it wanted the game disk in the drive. Was pretty disappointed the Ubisoft knowledgebase had no reference to this issue - particularly when Google reveals quite a bit of activity around this error. I did find an executable file with a "no CD fix" out on some website and, happily it worked -- but I should have found that solution here, through Ubisoft.

I've owned/played many Ubi titles - the games are great, however this experience really highlights a significant gap in customer support at Ubi.

Ubisoft support and communication are non-existant for Vegas 2 on this site!

Glad you found the no CD crack!
It is supposed to be illegal according to Ubisoft, but that is the only way to get many legal versions of Vegas 2 to run!
(And Ubisoft actually released one for awhile)

LOL, yeah, Chuck Norris has a point, but for Vegas 2, Ubi's official tech support is next to nothing in comparison to their other more, uh, WORKING titles.

Glad you found the no-cd (technically no-DVD) patch. Let us know if you need anymore help.

(Currently your game will only work with the nodvd patch unless you want to go through a series of deleting registry keys and s*it... the no-dvd patch seems to be a far excellent/simpler choice)

DISCLAIMER: no-dvd patches are illegal. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Just reinstalled Vista x64, installed legit store bought copy of Vegas 2 (again, not the first time). Patched to the latest 1.03 patch. Start game - insert CD error.

I too had to use a no DVD crack to play a legit game, WTF is up with that UBISOFT are you ******ed?

dnottis,
If you have a SATA DVD drive, Ubisoft's copy protection prevents many SATA's from reading the disk.

If you have a IDE laying around that will usually work.

I have 2 Lite-On SATA's and 2 Samsung SATA's that won't read the Vegas 2 DVD, but all of my IDE's will.
(I don't have a problem with any other game)

I guess if Ubisoft didn't test Vegas 2 before release .. We can't expect them to test whether the DVD can be read by SATA drives!!!
And I really don't think that Ubisoft cares once they get your money!

There have been many posts in these forums by players who have bought both the DVD and download versions, and have the same problem as you!!

This is as close as I can get you without getting in trouble!

Follow this link and type Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 in the search box right above the Search GameCopyWorld button!

Vegas 2 DVD! (http://www.gamecopyworld.com/)

If you have a legal copy of Vegas 2 you should be able to do whatever it takes to play your game!!!

When you get to the site the link takes you to, type "rainbow 6 vegas 2" in the little window above the button that says "Search GameCopyWorld"!

You are looking for a link that looks something like this:
GameCopyWorld - Tom Clancy's: Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 - ******************* Game Fixes

There is a 6.5 MB file you need to download that will allow you to run your game!!

I can't say much more in this forum or this will get locked!!

I hope you can figure out what you need to do and get your game running.

If you have a legal copy of Vegas 2, then you should be able to do whatever it takes to get it to run!!

I will go as far as telling you this is the file you are looking for:
Game Fixes:
Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 v1.03 [MULTI5] *******/Fixed EXE

Good luck with your game!!!
