Well all depends. I suggested FC2 to my wife to get me as a Christmas gift, and all I got was a cd coaster, this game is so buggy, you'll rarely find anyone that can run it without a variety of issues. I have the latest greatest hardware/drivers installed. Unistalled/reload/updated/defragged...etc etc. Still will not run. UBI should be ashamed of themselves.
You may get it and it may run great for you. From what I have seen/read. I would wait until the bugs get worked out, if I got it at all.

OMG BUY IT....IF YOU DON'T ALREADY HAVE IT BUY IT NOW!!!! Stunning effects, gameplay and storyline!!!! I am not a big pc game player (for my sins!!) this is the first one I have properly played cos my other half and I just got a new pc. No complaints about this game.... the only problem is that i have completed it and there is now a big void in my life ;-)

If its in the bargain bin at your local store its a worthy purchase.
The game engine (Dunia) is a marvel, the gaming world is very well done.
The storyline is weak in my opinion, I think the devs struggled to keep the story engaging in such a vast world.
The major gripes people have had with SinglePlayer are:
:: Too much driving from A to B (I recommend you utilise the bus system whenever you can)
:: AI Respawn too quick
:: No stealth (even with a sniper 'guille' suit)
:: Missions are repetitive
I find its most enjoyable playing in small doses of an hour or so at a time, if you play for longer than that you may start to pick up on the above points.
The MP side of the game is like Marmite, you'll either love it or hate it (personally I hate it).
To date there has been no SDK released to the community, so the only modifications to the game will come from Ubi - and you have to pay for them.
I'd be suprised if any more patches are released for it.

Don't buy FC2. It's very disappointing. the game is very linear and basic. In my opinion, UbiSoft set out to make a very mediocre game while at the same time giving it the appearance of something well thought out and fun. To me, this is false advertisement. Originally this game was meant for PC and was promised to have a lot of good stuff in it. What ended up happening is Ubisoft got greedy, decided that PC gaming is a thing of the past, and pretty much announced to the whole community that they would see more money in making this an Xbox game, and that consoles are basically the future. So, they redesigned the game for Xbox and ported it to PC. So the PC game is exactly like the Xbox version, except the PC version has a lot of bugs. They dropped development and testing for the PC, directx10 doesn't even work properly in the game, its best played in DirectX9.
Think about this. The Xbox360 can be compared to a PC from the late 90's to about 2002. That is NOTHING compared to whats standard now. The PC version of FC2 is the Xbox360 version as well, so why would FC2 have ANY trouble running on a 3.6ghz quad core, and two video cards in SLI with a total video memory of 1gig and ram at 4gigs ? The answer lies in the lack of PC support. So if you buy FC2 for PC you're hurting yourself, you're best off getting for Xbox360 if anything.
What really ****es everyone off is the fact that Ubisoft has all this extra FC2 content that originally was going to be in the game. this stuff will only be seen in the next installment of the FC series, meaning that if you want the game that FC2 was suppose to be, then you'll have to wait for FC3. HOWEVER SO MANY PEOPLE have stated that FC2 has nothing to do with FC, and that naming this game FC2 was a mistake, so I think we can all expect to see a new franchise like FC2 coming out with all the stuff that was suppose to be in FC2. Greed.
Also note that if you run a 64bit operation system, there is no punkbuster support, meaning that you will not be able to play on line, because ubisoft decided to go with PunkBuster as their anti cheat, KNOWING very well that even balance doesn't do anything for 64bit OS. If you're lucky you'll find a server with no anti cheat, BUT you'll have to play with all the cheaters because you have a 64bit OS. All week i've been trying to play FC2 online and im having no luck because all the servers run PunkBuster, and I have a 64bit OS. Besides that, there ain't even enough people playing this game online anyway.
All in all i'm very disappointed in ubisoft and myself for buying this game over STEAM. I can't get a refund.
Another thing to note is that FC2 was suppose to be a game that opposes the Crysis franchise. This stupid little war between crytek and ubisoft is stupid.
I've gotten LOTS more enjoyment and play time with the crysis games then i have with FC2. I just went and bought the maximum edition of Crysis and it's awesome, online and off.
In the battle between ubi and crytek, crytek wins. I'm sorry i ever supported FC2 like i did.
I got 16 of my friends to pre-order FC2 and when it came out they were ALL upset at me for making them buy this game. None of these people i know have played FC2 since it came out and blame me for making them waste their money. I agree with them and like i said im sorry i supported this game like i did for so long.
Also note that the AI in FC2 is that of Goldeneye for N64. Now thats horrible. The AI in FC2 does the same stuff that the AI in Goldeneye did, like for instance, the AI will be facing away from you while shooting, yet somehow their bullets hit you. You can put a whole magazine into these AI and they'll get up and start shooting you again. The only way to kill them in one hit is with a grenade in which they WILL run to like a dog if thrown. I'm not kidding, this AI seems like it was stolen from the Nintendo64 game Goldeneye. They do exactly the same things. So if you ask me, no real time was spent on the AI.
in a nut shell, if you're going to play this game, play the Xbox360 version so you can get away from the millions of bugs and disappointment of no real directx10 support.

JadedHesher,
This is one of the many reasons why I gave up on this "Brillant piece of work", and am now playing the Half Life series. At least those games WORK on my pc.
