Autopatch (and manual download) failure

Ok so now i bought the game today and installed it nicely (i even uninstalled the demo before starting)...

And ofc (as it seem to go with alot of games (not just UBI) there is a patch to download.... a massive ~450MB.... not a problem for some a broadband connection.

BUT !!!! when it hit 100% i get the following msg:

hmmm ok ok i can press the "start game" button... ill go play without the patch and retry tomorow orso.... Or so i thought for a second... Pause... NAH wrong thought...
What happened next amazed me even more.
The game starts (or rather the new DRM game start programm) and yea ofc it sees there a new update and I CANT play without it ??? Erhm WHY CANT i play without an update ???
Getting frustrated i hit the button so it sents me to the website where i can download the update and execute it... Sure thing another ~450MB no problem. PS: it gives me the download to Patch 1.01, instead of 1.02.... Again WRONG thought, at about ~50MB it stops and says ok mate your done, the download is complete... WHAT THE XXXX ?

UBI please help ?

EDIT: noticed after posting that the http://static...... link is clickable... im "manualy" downloading the update (for the 3th time), maybe that will work...

Yep, I get exactly the same issue and am trying to download the 1.02 patch manually now.

I am really looking forward to playing this game as it is getting good reviews and looks to be far better than the last couple of Settlers games. However, my initial user experience with this product is appaling. Even registering for the Ubi account was not problem free as I got a "Page cannot be found" error half way through registering.

Looking at other threads around here it seems there have been quite a few issues which is a shame given that the feedback from people who have actually managed to play is really good. UbiSoft - Please, please, please sort it out or the Settlers could be one of those games that appears in the "10 best games you've never played" lists.

ok new update: problem solved...
When you download and execute the file from the link (in the error msg of the autopatch) it still gives an CRC error at one of the file (dont know the name to frustrate and started hitting buttons, abandon,retry,ignore), but when you press the ignore button the update continues and i was able to play the game as normal afterwards.
Although it worked with me, dont blame me if "ignore" the errored file gives an instability when you run the game http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Doesn't work here, if I ignore the error, the game will not start (some short error messagebox comes up when trying to launch the game, even before the ubisoft launcher starts)...

I never heard this before you can't start the LAUNCHER?! that sucks! let alone the game:S

I can play the game never had any problem exept with MP a little but thats all

The first update fixes things in the game and give you to see that the game needs internet to be sure you bought a good game that works. it's checking if your internet is stable also maybe.

if you want.. remove the game in the control panel and all files and folders from C/program files/blue byte/S7 or something. And install it 1 more time.
If it gives an error, that means the game is ****ed or internet is not good
All of the patches are working fine with me.

But still no playing after that..same error and everything bring it back man, get your money and buy an other S7 disc. It has to work this time.

I'm not sure if you're in the right forum or not, that patch is for the game Far Cry 2, and this is the Settlers forum, which game is it that you have the problem with?

I had problems with this as well and I tried re-installing and on the install screen it gives the option to automatically configure firewall settings. I unchecked this box and was then able to run the patch from the ubi website manually and it worked. the only thing is the automatic updater still tries to run when I launch the game but I jsut quit out of it then the game runs normally ...hope this helps
