I just bought il-2:1946 off of steam...it downloaded 5gb of stuff....but when I launch the game, it appears to be a game made in early 2000. There is no version number in the corner. I think it is the original first IL-2. can anyone tell me how to get to il2:1946 if i'm having this issue?

When you start the game, on the very first screen, look at the lower left corner.

You will see two lines in RED just above the Maddox Games and UBI logos.

The top one will be the version number, and the bottom one will be a line showing the loading progress.

4.09m is what it says...and I understand that is the latest version?

Is there anything on the screen after that which indicates that it is indeed 1946? If the software i'm looking at was updated in 2007, then it is by far the ugliest UI and design by far. The settings can't even handle a wide screen aspect ratio...the game doesn't recognize the throttle on my saitek controller....

Slow down, take a deep breath. This game is indeed old but can be made to look pretty good with some tweaking. I suggest you check out the conf.ini guide at www.mission4today.com (http://www.mission4today.com) as well as the thread at the top of this forum about widescreen. Also you want to install the latest patches 4.10 and 4.10.1. The game recognizes up to four controllers, you may just need to go into the controls screen and scroll down to HOTAS and assign your throttle to Power.

Actually we're up to 4.101 now, the 4.101 patch fixes some bugs in the 4.10 patch.
