I'd post this message in the Splinter Cell Tech Support (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/frm/f/954105331) forum. With the release of the game there will be more and more people posting issues there and Ubi support will likely be dropping by soon.
In the mean time community help will be all over this stuff. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Make sure you meet the PC specs
CPU: Intel Core® 2 Duo 1.8 GHZ or AMD Athlon X2 64 2.4GHZ
RAM: 1.5 GB Windows® XP / 2 GB Windows Vista® - Windows 7®
Video Card: Geforce 7800 / ATI X1800
DirectX: version 9 (10 and 11 not supported)
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c-compatible
Drive space: 10Gb
CPU: Core 2 Duo 2.0 Ghz / Athlon 64 x2 5800+
Video Card: 8800 GS / HD4670
Sounds like it's a video card or monitor issue. It is likely your card is not up to date or your monitor can't drive the resolution it needs for the game.
Try updating video card drivers and see what happens then.
What type of video card are you running?

There was someone in the Steam forums with a fix for this issue:
For those getting a black screen on high-end computers (Steam Forums) (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1243108)
For those getting a black screen on high-end computers
Upon install, every time I launched the game I could hear the sounds, but could only see a black screen. Apparently a common problem. So I did a little searching.
The game thinks the game installed to my system drive C: and reflects this in the game.ini file located in the SP:C main folder.
I updated the game.ini file to reflect the actual game location which was:
E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction
An presto! the game loaded without black screen.
Here is my pertinent comp load out, all with latest drivers...etc.
AMD Phenom II X4 920
Hope this helps someone out there.
NOTE that your install path may be different. Good luck!

Does this mean when I install it on a different drive, the ini file won't update itself? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif so sad.

Last time I had game run problem, I have upgraded directX to the newest version from Microsoft web site and it was ok then...
