Since installing the patch for SH III my sonar oporator has become almost ineffective. I am unable to use most of his functions such as determining range to target which is helpful when using the deck gun.

Has anyone else encountered this problem with the patch dl, or is there some other possible explanation?

Many thanks

The only person I can think of that can give you the range to target is your watch officer unless you have a radar set. If you don't have a radar set and are using your sonar operator, he will only say the range as short, medium, or long.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

When you say 'using sonar', you're using the hydrophones (a 'passive' listening device) for detection, giving only a bearing and estimates of speed and range. If you used 'Active' Sonar - you'd get the range, but you'd also summon every escort in your grid to your location. Same with Radar but that attracts Aircraft too. Transmitting on Radar or Sonar was, in reality, a no-no.

You could get the range from the periscope or the UZO on the bridge.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
