Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz
GeForce 8800GTS 512MB
That would give you some nice gaming power http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

it really depends on what you want to spend.
I have a Nvidia 8600GT video card and I've been very very happy with it. it plays IL-2 very nicely. by itself it is like $100 USD.
an 8800 card is better but it is like $200 by itself.
I would say shop around and try and get the cheapest computer you can find that has an 8800, if they are all too pricy for your budget then maybe compromise and get an 8600.

Looks good...where's the motherboard?
...and power supply?
Starting to look a bit expensive.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money you can buy a dual core AMD for $50-80 and anything in the area of a x1950 Pro 512mb or any of the 7900 Geforce cards. Check ebay they can be had for in the area of $100 give or take and will play COD and IL2 on max settings just fine. The only thing I would really suggest is to have 2 gigs of ram and enough of a powersupply, 550w would be good, to handle the card. Good luck.

As already stated:
1. a decent dual-core processor (I lean towards Intel)
2. Nvidia 8800GT or 8800GTS 512
3. 2GB RAM
4. Motherboard - IP35 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813127030 )
PSU, Case, Optical drives etc, can most all be salvaged from an older machine if need be, but the 4 listed items will satisfy all pc-gaming needs for some time to come (and will run IL2 cranked way up and in perfect mode) and, if you're a thrifty shopper, they can all be had for less than $500.
It's a great time to build a new rig if you're running with anything older than 18 months old.

You can get away pretty cheap nowadays if you know what to look for. I run a dual core AMD 4000+ with an AGP 7800GS 256mb, and I play 1946 and COD4 and FSX with all settings on max for all 3. I am very happy with the performance.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif With regard to video card memory I wouldn't go for less than 512Mb. This is based on experience and the new Land Geometry settings unveiled in the 4.09 beta patch, which only kick in if you have that 512Mb memory.

Ah, okay, you're right, I mis-read the bit in the readme
"Note: This mode is not optimized for performance
(freezes and low fps are possible on low-end systems)
This mode is recommended for fast CPUs & powerful video
cards such as Nvidia 8800 series, ATI X1800 series or better.
With 512 MB of video RAM."
Recommended, not mandatory. My mistake.
