Now a lot of things have been said about driv3r being rubbish and unfinished and i agree with most of those statments. However, the car physics and graphics I feel are superior to all other driver games. DPL's car physics were to un realistic for me and the graphics were a bit gritty. Particularly in the 2006 section.
Driv3r despite all the glitches had a very nice enviroment, if not very detailed. But i can't say much about that because when you think about it, Driv3r is four years old now. Comparing it to the recent DPL 2006 is a bit unfair.
I felt that Driv3r's storyline was VERY, VERY weak. DPL's was a good idea but half of the story being about revenge was tiresom and a bit of an over look. I think multiple ciies was more than part responsible for the Driv3r failure.
Gameplay in D3 got very boring even during the missions I found. It just lacked substance and re-play value. Your meant to enjoy the story unfolding and that just didnt happen for me.
Tanner: I like Tanner but I think (if reflections are planning a present day title) then he should be dropped for one simple reason, hes old. An interesting storyline would be that Tanner is retired and his son is into crime. (you play tanners son) Tanner dosn't know and so his son trys to keep it secret. but when he starts to make it big it becomes harder and harder to hide. This storyline is interesting because its about two characters bouncing off eachother in a way that you can only get with family. not to mention the lies and secrecy. Tanner's son thinks tanner was just a cop. an undercovers identity is never blown. Ever.
But anyway all I want from the Driv3r experience in the next driver is the car physics. everything else needs re vampt.

I really liked driv3r, particularly a couple of weeks into playing it!
For some strange reason, my first day at playing it felt really weird, like I was a little disapointed in the game. But as I got into the groove I learn't how awsome the game really is.
The contrast of teh cities gave it a realy high quality next-gen look but unfortuantly the textures could meet standards.
I found the storyline was awsome!
It keeped a strong interest in cars and that's all the game is about!
and I said it before and I'll say it again!
one thing I hated is the player killing 20people in one level, it felt really unrealistic. Maybe just a couple of people in a level and instead of pouring hundreds of bullets into them one or two bullets should do the trick!
That should keep the game focused on realism and the player will spend more time in the car rather than killing hundreds of people.
I thought the mission were alright, could have done better if everything was AI controlled so they didn't take the same path all the time.
I'd like to see a younger version of tanner again! Voiced by Michael Madsen! But I'm not going to have a cry if we don't see him back! Reflections did a good job with TK!
and I agree that the car physics experience from driv3r needs to be continued within their next driver titles. Of course improving them to make them even more realistic. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I think Driv3r always felt as though it had better damage than D:PL
and when i crashed in D3 i would be good but i feel there may be 1 thing the D:PL damage had over it what i cant put my finger on, but other than that 1 thing i would definately preferre the damage style from D3
plus i think the biggest problem with D:PLs damage is that when you crash the cars animations look a little stiff
where as in D3 your car would be bouncing on its suspension (maybe a tiny bit too much but it was fun!)

I think they should have added some more dampering.
Decrease the grip.
Slightly decrease the shock strength (it feels more realistic when the car bounces a round a little more more - It's like the 12 principles of animation where you must [agh.. cannot think of the word {the example would be a ball bouncing in real life and in the animated world increasing it so it's more visible to the player since there not really in the car}])
and I guess that's my word on the car physics side of driv3r.
Hey, the list wouldn't end if we where talking about the physics in any of the gta I've played in the past and that's proably why I play them no longer (I think gtasa had interesting fish-tailing) that felt the most realistic).
I say reflections vehicle dynamics is what you really need to look into! To keep driver apart from everything else.
Get all your programmers out into all different types of cars on the test track so they get to experence that kind of action in real life so they can implement it into the game!
Hmm... This idea seems that great I'll give it it's own thread when I get sometime! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

As harsh as I can be about Driv3r's lack of excitement and slow gameplay, yes, there are some technically solid things in the game, like the great car controls (the bikes are a bit sluggish and stiff), cool crashes and over the top flips. And the cities were nicely detailed, but not very exciting to actually drive through excluding Nice, France, which provided some cool hills and winding roads.

I'e just got D3 (late starter i know) and i'm trying to use an xbox360 controller for windows i've altered the key mapping to something a bit more user friendly but find that when i start playing it it reverts back to the awful default settings. anyone else have this problem if so have you been able to correct it, or am i just going to have to revert to using the keyboard!

Driv3r is one of those games that has huge flaws but it still somehow tempted me to play it for 10s of hours. Haven't done that since changed my Xbox though.
Halo3 is on the other end. Technically near flawless and has tons of quality features but still it's missing something. Basically it's more and better version of Halo1 but for some reason I still like Halo1 more.
Vehicle physics are overwhelmingly the best part of Driv3r agreed. Cities and the story concept from starting of revealing the nighty Miami to credits were also good. Charachter physics and AI were without doubt the 2 worst things.
