Hello People,

Can somebody help me resolve this problem. I can play the game quite smoothly and well, however, it seems to randomly crash now and then, exiting to the desktop with some exception. The usual error an exe file incurs whereby it asks if I want to send an error report.

Try installing the ngo hq driver(for your video card) from www.ngohq.com (http://www.ngohq.com)

Thanks for the help BUT: I downloaded the driver from that site, using the links Files | nVidia Forceware | nVidia ForceWare 84.56a ( http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=Files&go=cat&dwn_cat_id=15 )

I assume this was the correct one. I installed it, and then each time I restart my computer it boots straight into a blue screen error which speaks about a physical memory dump. The only way I can resolve the issue is by booting into safe mode and using system restore to return back to a time before the driver was installed.

Can anybody help? Maybe I installed the wrong driver?

You got the correct driver.
Is your video card overcloack-ed?
try this setting in :
My Documents\My Games\Heroes of Might and Magic V\Profiles\"profile name"\user.cfg (edit it with notepad).
Search for : setvar gfx_texture_mip = 2 and set it to setvar gfx_texture_mip = 1.

Unfortunately, changing the gfx_texture_mip from 0 to 1 didn't seem to solve the issue. I thought it did at first since I managed to play the game for longer without error. But, after a while, during combat the game crashed at a seemingly random moment. It returned me to the desktop and left me with an explorer error. The error where the taskbar vanishes and so do the icons on the desktop.

Any suggestions, anybody? I like what I see of the game so far, and I'd really like to play it under more reliable conditions.

Try the latest driver from www.nvidia.com (http://www.nvidia.com) and also try driver version 61.77 (also from nvidia website).

Hi. Thanks for the advice BUT...

If I go to nvidia and select windows and Geforece, the latest driver it offers does not work seem to work with my card. However,

I downloaded and installed what I could find to be the latest driver from a place called 3dguru.com

And my my dxdiag file now looks as follows. Although, the error still occurs whereby the app crashes at random places (often in combat) and it returns me to the desktop. On this occasion there was no explorer error, but there was the standard dialog telling me the exe had performed an exception.

I noticed it says my DirectX DLL files are Debug versions and not retail. Will this make a difference? I did, however, check in the DirectX area of control panel and ensure the Retail version was the active mode.
