I have played the game for a while on and off.The last time i tried to run it it just didnt want to launch i reinstalled the game and still it doesnt want to launch from either the desktop or the cd.

1. Please post your dxdiag report:
Windows XP/2000:
Click Start > Run... type in
dxdiag
click OK.
Select to Save All Information. Open the file in Notepad, select all, copy then paste the complete text into your next reply.
Windows Vista:
In the Search box (just above the Start button) type:
dxdiag
hit Enter.
Select to Save All Information. Open the file in Notepad, select all, copy then paste the complete text into your next reply.
2. >>> Copy the settings for the game from the Source entry in Registry.
Click Start > Run... type in
regedit
click OK.
Navigate to the key
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Source\mm]
you see in the picture below, and highlight it.

Right-click on the key > Export...
In the Name box, type for instance:
Valve_Source_mm-key
In the Filetype box leave it at 'Registryfile (*.reg)'.
Click Save.
It is now saved into the My Documents folder.
In My Documents folder, find this .reg file.
Right-click on it > Open with... select Notepad. Put your cursor in the text, select all then copy and paste it into your next reply.
