Hi there,

A few months ago i bought Uru ages beyond myst. This game has never worked on my computer. And i really don't know why.
I installed it and when i press the button to play the game, then I can make a virtual "me". But from there I can't come any further. Which button do i have to press on in order to start the game??
Does anybody know if there is a dutch version or a dutch forum for this game??
My videocard is 32 MB and i have plenty of GB's left for this game....
Maybe my monitor isn't good installed...
Hopefully someone can help me!

Thanks already!
Lizzie

Welcome! There are several Dutch people on this forum. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Would you please post a dx diag report? "How to" is in this (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/524109302/m/937105842/r/937105842#937105842) thread, about half way down.

hopefully you all can help me!
I read somewere that if youre videocard isn't good enough the game won't work....maybe thats it...
I had everest run over my computer and this is what came out, maybe some of you can see if it's good enough!

Videocard SiS 650_651_M650_M652_740 (32 MB)
3D-Versneller SiS 315 Integrated
Monitor Plug en Play-monitor [NoDB] (1343180568)
Sound card SiS 7012 Audio Device

Thanks!

Your card is the reason. The SiS chipset isn't supported. Only nvidia and Radeon as specified on the box and in the stickied thread above.

Do you really mean that?? So i can throw it away....that's a bummer (or how do you write that word).
Can you explane where i have to pay attention to the next time i buy a game?? I now see it on the box of the game, but i have to say that i do not pay attention to those things, because i just thought that my computer was good enough for every pcgame....
Maybe i can sell it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

nVidia GeForce and ATI Radeon are rapidly becoming the "generic" standard for games. They are really the only video chipsets that offer the kind of 3D rendering capability that is warranted for a game like Uru. (Compatibility with Intel Extreme chipsets and Uru was also added when Cyan released The Path of the Shell. This made the game accessibile to an even larger number of users -- though the quality pales on an Intel Extreme chipset compared to nVidia or Radeon.)

The problem with SiS chipsets is that there are enough people that still have them to create a problem (we get the occasional SiS chipset user posting here from time to time), but not enough to warrant the kind of work it would require to make Uru compatible with SiS video drivers.

I would suggest you try and pick up a Radeon or GeForce card from a place like Tiger Direct. They often have instant and mail-in rebates available for many GeForce and Radeon cards -- both AGP and PCI. If your computer has an AGP slot, that's your best bet. But if it only has PCI expansion slots, you can still get a card to fit. You might even be able to get a lower-end card for as low as $20 to $50. ( HERE (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1179550&Sku=P450-8536)'s one for $49.99 after rebate. A fairly impressive nVidia AGP card with 256 MB RAM of video memory. One example of something someone shopping for a new video card might choose...)

It really is worth it. nVidia and/or Radeon graphics will be much more impressive than what you SiS chipset is capable of producing.

HERE (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1160567&CatId=319) is another card that you might want to consider if you want to spend the least amount of money possible. It will fit in a standard PCI slot, it will run Uru, and will only cost you $25 after rebate.
