GAME VERSION = 1.35

Problem seems sound related. Earlier x-fi drivers were playable (beta)but still at a very low fps. if i replaced the OPENAL files in the game folder with the new one's from the OPENAL download.

With new XFI drivers i am back to 5fps which is where i was before the openal replacement.

Colin, are you Running the app as admin?
I tried this last night, and was able to reload after dyeing over and over.... but im only on level 1.
Should I NOT get my hopes up just yet?

Also, as I mentioned before, in Multiplayer, when I click join... nuthin happens.
Have you heard of any one with this issue???

The patch or fix if one can be found will hope fully come from the developer, when they get the time.

GRAW.exe hangs when loading a new map. I am able to play the first map loaded but when loading second map it hangs. Even without costom maps.
Anyone found something about this issue on the internet?

Integrated GPU and sound, also 1 gig ram.

This hardware config will give you problems.
Overall its not powerfull enough.
To Run Vista and the game.
Plus the chipset is not supported.

Well its not exactly me , well it is but Ubi are also now working on it, where before it was a no go, so this is good news.
The Holidays is gona get in the way though, but testing is still getting done.
Example.
Tested on XP compat mode no joy
Tested on 2000 os no joy
Now 98 se. still testing.
I also know a couple guys are looking at this on grnet too.

Ok on my system it is now sorted.
I did the following procedure.

This was tested on windows 98se/windows 2000/windows/xp/windows vista home premuim.

Ok sorted.

Method.
Uninstall game completly, and clean registry of information using registry cleaner.

Uninstall Nvidia 8800GTX Drivers
Uninstall Creative Drivers.
Restart in safe mode.
Use driver cleaner pro to clean out remnants of Nvidia and creative.

Restart.

Do a windows update this will install GPU AND sound drivers.
Restart.

Load Graw Disk.
Explore disk in my computer, find run exe, right click and run as Admin.

Install game this includes direct x and ageia.
Install patch 1.35.

Restart.

Graw Icon on DT right click go to properties and play game in compat mode for xp.
press apply.

Again right click DT icon and execute as Admin.

Play game.

I switched 15 times between MP/SP various game types no crash. game stable on my system.

Now this may be not what you wanted to read but it does work, this is of course on my system see above.

I think the problem is a mixture of poor installs on my part and overlapping files and some beta drivers earlier in the product.

I surely hope this works for you.

3D guru has Driver cleaner pro as a free download.

Please be carefull when using this type of programme and othwer pc utils.

Please put any feed back here re this problem.

r u sure.... Only saying this because I ran driver cleaner before installing the 101.41 beta drivers, and DC found nuthin!

And I ran Registry Cleaner too, that of course found stuff to clean. Im just gonna try reinstalling the game, and istalling it as admin.

The gpu drivers are the ones downloaded from microsoft. not beta. If you use a beta set it might not work.

Well your right, I tried what you tried (with my beta gpu drivers) and level two wont load. Funny, cuz level 2 loaded before I tried all of this, I just couldnt re-load after death.

Anyhow, thanks for your help, Ill just stick with R6V for now, till GRAW2

The game crashes at random times for me under Vista. Some times after 5 minutes, sometimes 15. The crashlog shows this:

Remove any mods for the time.
Undo the over clock
check your system fans are clean and clear.
More details of when the crash happens, missions, mp sp etc.

I sorted out my crashes!!!!

After installing 101.70 beta drivers from 3D Guru for the 8800gts, Graw has stoped crashing during map change!!!

Remember, "use at your own risk", but they work for me.. tested under R6V, GRAW, 3DMark06.

Only issue so far is that in GRAW, in MP the graphics flicker to black hear and there.

I've seen that flicker too... but strangely enough only on the "Downtown" map. And only in VERY specific places. Thought it was just me.

Excactly!!! For instance... right in the corner of two building that come together. The more you're in the corner, the worse the black flicker is. But i swear... i haven't seen it on any other maps. Just Downtown. Sooooo strange.

I made a complete reinstall of drivers using Driver Cleaner first. Using windows update drivers.
And a clean reinstall of GRAW + 1.35 patch as administrator.
Then i run GRAW as admin. It worked for a while, but now its freezing again when loading second map.
Using Vista home premium 32 bit.

Ok bro yes I see these in the mail this morning.
My game is still stable on the whql.

The only thing I did on the reinstall was clean regisry complet, before reloading drivers and game.

Ill try the beta drivers but I recon it will go back to map reload prob ill have a go.

Looks like it fixed the problem with freezing GRAW when loading second map for me.
Played for two hours this afternoon without any problems.

Wow! 158.18 didn't do it for me at all. I'm still getting the "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding, but has succesfully recovered" message and a bunch of this;

Your best bet would be to upgrade to 1.35. It also helps us who in turn help you if you list out what ya got for a machine, ie;
CPU ?
GPU ?
Memory ?

Drop some more info and I'm sure somebody will help ya out right quick.

GPU is your video card.
Your CPU should be more than adequate but you might want to add another stick of ram. Did you patch the game to 1.35?

Guys I am going to un stick this now.

Reason.
Drivers are not and wont be for a while optimized for windows vista say July time.

Too many variables to sort through to get a real help type approach.

I have Windows Vista Home Edition and i downloaded GRAW and installed patch 1.35 still get the crash. For the 1.35. Im Running Intel Pentium Dual Core 1gig and some other ****, i just updated all my drivers and im still getting the (Crash in application version: grpcrc1.35 Failed setting up render device.)Im Running on a laptop, i have an On board grafics card. Is their any fix for my problem?

This will be a GPU problem, onboard gpu are not supported in graw 1 and will not be supported in 2 either.

It will depend on which chipset and what model it is even to get the game to run at all.

Find out what the chipset is and make and model of the hardware gpu.

if it is powerfull enough to run vista and a high intence pc game we can take it from there.

At the end of mission 6 (ready for bear) -> mission debrief :
1) next mission (quaterback) -> game stops responding (in taskmanagment / applications microsoft visual c++ runtime library is activated ; GRAW not responding)
2) main menu -> no mission quaterback available

Mission loads are common.
See this fix.
Unlock Campaign Missions.

Change the following values in the profile.xml file

Game play has a lot of lag. Can my machine handle the game, or is this a fix it quick issue. thanks

Your Hp is not up to vista and games with dedicated gpu.
A shared GPU will not work well if at all.
The chipset is not supported either.
Read the tweak guide for vista and game on Tweak guides.

Hello Colin,

Downloaded patch 1.35 and installed it as administrator , but can't find (or don't understand) the suggested fix (unlock "campaign missions" -> ? can't find folder or file,... on pc or dvd {profile.xml : the same ; can't find the values in any other .xml file}).
So I guess I need some more help. Thanks.

(upgraded MEM to 3 GBRAM which improves the gameplay)

minimal services and programs running in background. Graw crashes consistently same graw.exe crashing over and over. Uninstalled and reloaded still crashes. If I let PC sit I can play longer. directly after reboot game will not load. leave it running and come back a while can play for 15 - 20 minutes.

I don't know why this didn't show up when I searched the C: drive.

ColinCJ - I'm running GRAW1 on Vista Business. It runs ok for the most part, but I cannot find the "profiles" directory. I have the folder
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter\Settings\
but it does not contain any folders. It does have the ctrl_set_def.* and other files, but nothing about profiles. I've searched my entire C: drive for profile.xml, but found nothing.

Any ideas?

I do not think the crashes are specific to levels, more so to systems. I have had a crash on ever single level I have played. Sometimes I can play for 20 minutes other times I cannot evevn get the level to load without crashing. It is disheartening to not be able to play what is trully a very cool game. A game should not require so many "tweaks" simply to get it to run properly. However being as thick-headed as I am I will continue to try and tweak the system until I can play more then 15 minutes at a time.

With that said has anyone heard of any more patches coming for GRAW1?

Press start/control panel/folder options/press viwe/tick show all files.

I think I would be tempted to reinstall the game afresh.
Be sure to remove the folder once done.
Also when updating drivers make sure its a clean install.

I'm about to give up...

I have a Dell latitude D820 "vista ready"
-Windows XQ pro
-Dual Core 2300 @1667 MHz
-1 GB RAM
-Nvidia quadro nvs 120M with Geforce 7400 chipset
-all patches till 1.35
-latest graphic driver
-latest sound driver
-went to directX10 didnt work, went back to 9c
-latest openal32.dll
-i tried nvtweak and changed "frames to render ahead" to 0
-I changed all video/audio settings on the game to medium
-disabled EAX

the game crashes every 5 minutes or so, sometime it will show me a log, some other times its just a black screen with the game audio on the background, one time the top half of the screen was blue sky and the bottom was black...

I'm out of options at this points...

I also disabled "ballon alerts" on XP because on some crashes there was a ballon alert floating on the background...

help!

Laptop chipsets are not supported by GRAW.

The onboard GPU is also shared so games of this type that require dedicated GPU will not work properly if at all.

i have a similar problem :
first my error was :

then i tried the patch

then this came up:

i reinstalled it allready, the result stayed the same...

vista bussines 32 bit
intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6600 @2.40GHe 2.39GHz
ram : 2047 mb
hard disk 1 : 10000rpm 74 gig
hard disk 1 and 2 (in raid) 320 gig each
my computer is up to date
and the graw worked before on this pc when i had xp ...

i hate to wake dead threads, but i went back to graw while graw2 is being developed (new maps by the great modders like rpghard). Well, after upgrading to vista32, the game would not allow me to change video res. turns out you have to run the game as administrator. Right click the graw executable>properties and click the checkbox.

runs like a champ now.

Hi in game settings under sound what are your settings. Turn off eax if it is on.

Use software.

Hi colin,
Thanks for the prompt reply. newbie to computer games. i can play all half life games and thief deadly shadows without any problem. This just for reference. I do not know where the game settings are !! I have patched upto 1.35, after your suggestion i downloaded 1.4 and ran it, but it says it must have 1.35 to run which is already patched. Graw 1 only needs the 1.35 patch.
A vista problem exist in this game as with others.
Have a look at the following links might help.

This is long but it should help.

Many of us had problems running vista and graw1 it really was not made for this OS.

Plus you have driver issues with vista which are still not really good enough on some rigs.

Any way have a read do as it says and get back.

Hi ColinCJ, I have been using a asus mobo with SoundMAX onboard audio card, but all these months have been using the software that MS installs when you use vista. Today i installed SoundMAX audio over the MS and voila i was able to play Ghost recon in its full glory. Thanks for the help Sir.

I have a Vist Home Prem. on a Dell 531s, with an nVidea 6510se.

My major malfuntion seesm to be that in the second scenario, going to find VIPs. the first 2 team members get stuck in a building when they drop down from the chopper.

In the first part of the game, looking for the wounded Captain, I finished the section with just one team member, Number 1, who showed up in time to get to the chopper, but wouldn't move an inch until then.

The rest of my problems stem from my computer, and graphics, not being up to what is needed but I wish single player mod did not mean just me.

Just got a new computer and GRAW will install fine but when i try to start game, my screen goes blank and freezes up. It played fine with xp on my old computer but now with vista ultimate its locking up, any ideas?

vista problems GRAW1. E8400,2,8800ultras in SLI, 2- OCZ 2gb each mem 4gb total,Ageia PHysx pci card,creative labs extreme gramer,Vista ulitima sp1. This is a new computer from Puget Custom computers,and some , not all games lock up, or freeze in game. I check error crash and get event error 5038 a bunch of times, I mean a Ton of'em. Any ideas? Puget" wants me to reload my O/S, but I'm tired of doing that, HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Anybody got a clue?
