Is there a way for me to cancel my Ubi order and then order it via steam?

Not sure. They seem to take your money as soon as you preorder. Rather than bill you once it goes out. Perhaps it's a refund rather than a cancelation that you will need to seek. Good luck!

I ordered from Ubi not too long ago, and will be able to download the game on March 25th. I just found out about the Steam release today, but I would have had to wait until April 19th!

No way! This sim has been a long time coming, and I'm all over it, just as soon as humanly possible! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

EDIT: I see now that Ubi has pulled a fast one on me, and the date has now been changed to April 26th! I placed an order, after having been informed that it would be released on the 25th of this month. I used the Ubistore website to cancel the order.

What did P.T. Barnum used to say? Seriously though I'm glad I didn't pre-order, especially if they are charging peoples' account when the order is placed. That is an inexcusable business practice, IMO. They make use of your money, you don't have a product and no certain delivery time. I'll just wait til it is released.

Yeah taking your money before goods are dispatched is really uncommon,I was shocked when I pre-ordered from them.

This is obviously why they are offering the 'FREE' download of Silent Hunter 3,no doubt to smooth the way with their customers.I have left mine undownloaded as I don't want it.

Tbh, the free Silent Hunter 3 is a pretty crappy deal for pre-ordering, I'd much rather have $10 or even $5 off the game price for a pre-purchase. During the Steam Holiday sale SH4 was like $5 and SH3 was less than that, most pre-orders on steam have better deals.

Not that I'm complaining about the game coming out for $50, I'm sure it will be worth it, just the sweetener doesn't add anything to most of us die-hard simmers who already use Steam.

Most places are selling the D/L £5 cheaper than ubi...

How did you do that? Was there some sort of 'pending orders' link or something?

EDIT: I can click on help, see the link for order history, then get asked to log in, and it fails. Reset password successfully and it still fails.

2ND EDIT: it seems to only work if you go the 'order#' route.

From there you have to fill in an email form and send it off. I assume there's some human in the loop going on.

Seems that they only take your money when you use paypal.
My account has not yet been debited even though I pre ordered a month ago. I paid by credit card

I got a reply:

"We are currently reviewing your refund request. You will be notified
within 10 business days of approval or denial."

Excuse me?

It will be decided if I am going to get my refund? WOW. If UBI are selling to people in Canada they must follow Canadian consumer laws - including full refunds within 30 days no questions asked.

I was able to cancel my order. I'll just wait and see at this point.

Paul, sorry about the delay in getting back to you. To my surprise, Ubi refunded my money in less than three days with no fuss. I'm not sure why they would drag their feet in your case. Did you download SH3, by chance? Or maybe they have a backlog of cancellations, as everyone waits for the Steam release.

I just cancelled mine, like the post above, they made me submit an e-mail.

Hopefully they will return my money.

I will let you all know if they do.

It was a big mistake pre-ordering this game. Silent hunter 3 sucks.

I did download SH3. Hasn't been installed or activated however.

I sent another email and it was confirmed that I am not being billed.

I tried to cancel my pre-order, here was there response.

"Thank you for your refund request. Please accept our apologies; however, the product that was ordered is ineligible for a refund."

Never again will I be stupid enough to pre-order a game from this company
