mp_depot is an exciting, new assault map. The map has an assault layout with 3 flags for capture. The map also has 6 major areas(including flag areas) for exploration/killing/buggy racing/etc.
Area descriptions are:
#1 Solar grid(F1)
#2 Chemical depot(F2)
#3 Construction area(F3)
#4 Refuel station**
#6 Warehouse(proving grounds)**
The map is assault and will accommodate up to 32 players. MP_DEPOT also has unique features (custom music, unique flag architechture, climbable trees, AI, COOP if desired, etc.)that are not seen in stock far cry maps.
Far cry maps (http://www.farcry-maps.com) on 12/12
x Clansite (http://www.xclansite.com/archive/maps/mp_depot.exe) on 12/11
The download is a self-extracting file and will be placed into the far cry/levels folder, no other action is needed.

Looks good, Rick! I'll definitely get it off of FC Maps.
Any specific servers going to play it, right off of the bat? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

If anyone downloads from x-clansite can you tell me what speed you get. Don't bother if you have less than a 1mb line, just want to know if people are getting over 90k/sec as I seem to have issues with US sites when I download currently where tehy go slow.

im getting 600k/sec off xclansite. Pretty quick http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
This map doesn't look to bad actually. Can't wait till servers start hosting it.

Thanks, but i've been getting poor downloads speeds from all the US downloads I've been doing. Normally its between 80k/sec and 180k/sec (one off most), with average one being about 120k/sec, which I got off that link you gave me, and I'm on a 4mb line and can get 500k/sec from UK and europe no problem at all.

1 PM here in Estonia and download started at 300 and dropped quickly. Leveled off at 115 - 120. Only took a couple minutes though.

Anyone else find they get way, way less from US downloads than they do from UK or mainland europe downloads? Just want to know if its the normal, as I don't get more than 180k/sec from any US server that I've tried for a download.

mp_depot is ready for download on www.farcry-maps.com (http://www.farcry-maps.com). Thanks for the new map, Destroyer. Looking forward to playing it.
Thanks too to DocSeal for some behind the scenes work to get this staged and work around a mysterious web page blocking problem; I'm having problems getting to my own site at the moment.

Did you use to get faster ? I don't know that I would expect pulling files from Euro to every be fast. I think it has something to do with that large body of water between us

I will let everyone know about the COOP scenario(s) I set up in the map. You can also come up with your own. The first one is:
Location:Refuel station(between 2nd and 3rd flags. Head into jungle after 2nd flag and not across bridge)
Objective:Find the underground computer control room and clear the area of hostiles, then make your way to the 3rd flag in a humvee.
Time limit: 10 minutes

Got to say I won't be using this map. Looks great, but just won't be playable. While looking round on empty map I got 25-35 FPS at teh second flag area. That would be an utter disaster on a full game with lots of action near flag. YOu need constant over 30 on assault to make sure you don't get lag effect on gunfire.
I'm going to post about this seperate as well, but map makers really need to take some note as to what is popular of the official maps and what people hate and then avoid making the same mistakes. One of the reasons most people hate dune is that it has really long walks on it, and nobody wants to walk for 2-3 mintues of a game just to get killed and then start the walk again. Assault maps that most people really like are fairly tight while still providing a non linear approach to the flag. So at least a couple of paths/routes to the defensive area.
Anyway, of course its up to the makers how you do your maps, but if you want them played you need to take some note of these issues. Just my opinion of course.

The framerate drops are due to AI and I am removing for more steady rates. The distance to flags has been timed and none is over about 1 minute(faster if by car). As far as various routes to flag...my map has multiple pathways to each area, you just have to look. It's too bad you don't like it. The more time you spend in it, the more quality you will find.

well, I didn't get alot of play tonight, because you guys switched to hangar, but I did get some walkign around time stand alone and I will say the distance is probably a tad much. I think 30 secs to any flag is long enough, 45-65 is probably going to push the limits of people's patience.
Again, it's a little too early to say for sure, hopefully H2K will get a chance to go over the map some more has a team and see how it plays.
I think the map has alot of cool aspects to it and it does look good, just might be a bit too large for most people taste

This was one of the best MP maps I've ever seen.
I stumbled upon the well-placed AI and while hunting them, found some interesting spots. Thanks!

Same here. ('here' would be Belgium)
The x-site download averages 50k/sec at work, so didn't bother trying to DL 18Meg. Have yet to try it at home but don't expect much better rates. Fileplanet usually goes at around 80-150/sec.
