Skin withdrawn from upload, please note....I am considering not posting any further work & withdrawing all skins already posted by myself,various reasons for this, one being I'm not particularly happy about lack of feedback on the site theyre on, 9000 downloads of my work in less than 2 months & out of 9000 there are 92 comments??? Strikes me theres something wrong there, I work hours days weeks on some of them, and peeps cant be bothered to spend a minute to say oh cheers mate....PFFFT! Giving stuff away has never been a strong point of mine, but giving to people that dont appreciate it is something I am no longer prepared to do....

Before you do something a bit rash, think for a moment, please. Sure, you may not be getting as much feedback at FL as you'd like, but realise that every time you psot a WIP or a finished skin notice, you tend to get quite a lot of feedback here at the UbiZoo, and it's usually pretty detailed. I'd hate to see a good skinner like you go away because you didn't think you were appreciated enough on one site.

Think about this also: while you may not be good at giving stuff away, some people simply may not be good at giving thanks or commenting. Maybe they think they'll nitpick too much, or their comment will get taken the wrong way...Lord knows there's an art to giving compliments... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Oh, and for the record, I do like those Nachtjagers very much; I like how you've done the panel lines particularly, and you seem to have nailed that fiddly little wing fillet area nicely. Enjoy that ride in the Lanc -- once you come back down from it, forever will you cast your eyes skyward, as I did after my flight in an AT-6 Texan!

FBS: What Goodwood Alpha said. You work and all others here are much appreciated, and you do get alot of feedback right here. But it is hard to give praise sometimes...I know i feel stupid for the hundreth time saying "Great skin!" "Wow!" "Fantastic!" but that is what I feel about every dang one that gets posted here (I haven't even tried to skin one myself yet--too daunting. I will comment maybe half the time, but I always feel stupid because I can never think of anything original to say.

Also, check the reviews under all the single missions and campaigns at FL. I have over 400 d/ls on my "Quick Pack Attack" with only 2 reviews, and I consider myself very lucky because most don't have any and there is a heckuva alot of work that goes into campaign building, for sure.

So please have a little perspective and don't deny us ingrates the fruits of your labor. I'll try harder.

I think the reason people give little feed-back at Flying legends is that the format isn't particularly suited to feed-back. Any proper reply need a bit of space, and at FL you get this itty-bitty window to reply in. Also, you'll have to rate to comment. Personally I hate to rate.

We had this little discussion back in the IL2Skin-days too. The guys running FL are really nice, I'm sure they can be persuaded to make a system more conductive to comments.

Your Nachjaeger is absolutely gorgeous, btw. You have a very crisp and distinct style, and I think it has brought out the feeling of metal plates very well.

Like most everyone else said, I think should take no small consideration to the fact that your skins and templates are downloaded like mad when they come out. Thats the highest compliment/comment.

Fly-By-Shooter, if you do decide to withdraw your work it will be missed.

I am not one for "giving" hard work away either so I understand how you feel there.

I do, however, take pleasure in something I have done well and whether someone compliments me on it or not does not matter, I know.

If someone, or in your case 9,000 someones took advantage of what I freely offered I would consider that very high praise indeed.

I am one of the biggest skin freeloaders on Flying Legends and very seldom comment, lazy and not too cool, I know, but I do appreciate the effort put into these skins by any and all skinners there.

Same for mission builders and utility builders.

I hope you reconsider.

I ask that you dont misunderstand my intentions or way of looking at this, I know its not about stars or pats on the back etc, we all do it for the love of it I guess,I know I love the challenge of a new skin, trying different techniques to create something new,something different, something thats never been done etc, even trawling the net for info on what we create, for the sake of getting it right, some works Ive done have taken many hours & days as no doubt you guys have done the same, but I find it incredibly hard to understand why its possible for us to spend so much of our time creating these skins, missions,templates, campaigns, some of which (you guys I mean) are absolute works of art, when the people we do it for cant spend the time, 'a minute' to say cheers for that mate, its a little one sided dont you think?
I could probably spend all week writing here and still not be able to fully explain how i feel about this, so moving on, Im truly surprised at the response as Ive said, and thank you one & all.
Your words of encouragement and the things some of you have pointed out, have actually made me look at my position on the whole & within the community differently, Im going to take a little time out,take a chill pill, sit back etc , see how it goes......thanks again all, Im truly amazed at what you all have had to say,

FBS, if i may add my two cents about this...
First let me explain where i'm coming from in this matter, because it's not my intent to be polemic or offensive at all:
I've been "harvesting" skins for a few years now, have a good knowledge in aviation history, have art education, i can paint aircraft well but can't skin a plane to save my life. I do have some PhotoShop experience, not much but enough to apreciate the skils a good skin job requires, and through these three or four years of skin collecting have developed a clear like and dislike "policy" regarding what i find as a good skin or not.
However, even if i don't like the skin i still respect the individual's efforts and dedication and as a rule i follow the:" If you don't have something good to say, don't say anything" attitude.
I download a lot of skins, some i keep, others i discard, still with the utmost respect to it's creator. In many cases i've started liking certain skinner's skins after a while, when their style evolved with experience and came closer to my PERSONAL idea of what is a good skin. I repeat, my likes and dislikes are a personal taste and have little to do with the amount of research and effort that goes into skinning which as stated before, i respect immensely.
Concerning your own creations, (and please don't get offended, i mean this in a respectfull and matter-of-fact manner), i can deffinitely see the amount of time, dedication and skill you invest in them, and i usually download them to check them in-game (which i think is the ultimate assesment) but up till now they haven't clicked with my PERSONAL taste, so i haven't kept any of them.I have specific PERSONAL crticism about them but i wouldn't think of giving air to them, according to my "Shut up" rule...Your internals upgrades i find excellent though.
Why am i saying all this? to make my point more valid (yes, it's coming...)
This being the internet you can't expect propper "feedback treatment" because the dynamic of it doesn't promote it much. I do agree as well that Flying Legend's rating and comment system is a turn off and hope it will be changed soon to something less cumbersome and restrictive.
My point is that your creativeness should not be based on feedback but rather by self-need. Do because you can and because you like doing it, regardless of others and circumstances.
As others have said in this thread, the fact that your skins are being downloade a lot and that your posts here recieve quite an amount of feedback should satisfy you. Every positive feedback is a bonus...

So although i'm not a "fan" of your skins, i still think you should keep on doing what you like and not look for accolades as a reward.
