i wonder if theres going to be any snipers in brothers in arms. if there is how dangerous are they going to be. will you be able to get them with the regular sight you have on your garand?

They existed, they were very effective, and could do serious damage from great distances. (This is why officers had their rank painted on the BACK of their helmets).
Bring in the snipers.

If I remember correctly, America didn't have a sniper core until after the war, or at least at the very end.

they had snipers who shot well on ranges so they were initiated into snipers,giving a springfield and a scope,the squad in saving private ryan was accurate,1 sniper,1 bar man,1 thompson {captain},other privates garands,sergeant m1a1.........similar to a british squad who obviously had brit weapons,enfield,sten gun,bren,enfield w/scope,thompson {captain or major} or webley revolver

no they disbanded snipers after WW1 but soon realized the need for them in WW2 prob. around the end of 1943-44

I would like to see it in single player, having to take one out. I would rather it wasn't in multiplayer because most everyone would pick them, and it would hardly be possible to do anything, I say stick with Thompson, M1, M1A1, BAR, and Colt.

If those guys did have sniper rifles when they landed, that's great. But if they didn't I wouldn't want to see it as one of their primary weapons. But I still want to see an option where you can obtain a sniper rifle by either finding it on the ground or taking it off a dead soldier( in which case it would be a german soldier). It could have happened back in those time.

Most of the sharpshooters in the airborne prefered the Garand, however the airborne had access to Springfields w/ optics.

The paratroopers did jump with springfields although they were fairly rare.

From what I've seen the sniper scopes will have a sway, making sniping much more difficult than in, say, Medal of Honor. It might be more effective to get a rifle and use the iron sights.

As for BOB, it's not just a movie. It's an INCREDIBLY accurate mini-series based on a true story, and from what I've seen it looks like this game was inspired by BOB. In BOB, right down to how people die, where they get hit, what people say, tactics, etc. That's all real.

There will be weapon sway in BIA for every weapon. I have a quote from Randy Pitchford about weapon sway in BIA. As of the E3 demo, the sway had not yet been implemented. Sniper rifles will probably sway more zoomed in than say a Garand.

For a sieries to become very succsesful, they have to change some things and make it more dramatic. What im trying to say is : Dont put all your belief on a TV seirie, not all is accurate. For example episode 8, Webster was never on that patrol, Sgt.Martin was not the Sgt who led that patrol either, Webster was manning a machine-gun giving the patrol cover fire under the time the patrol was being done. And yes, snipers were used in the American Amry under WW2.

Yes, BOB is based on a true story. Hanks and Speilberg based BOB on Stephen Ambrose's book. The men talking in the beggining of every episode are the men in the series.
One more thing that has nothing to do with this topic : Saving Private Ryan's story is actualy stolen from the BOB book. A pvt in E compnay (Fritz Niland) found out that his 3 brothers were killed and was removed from the front line back to America. So if you think of it, Hanks and Speilbergs succsesful ww2 movies are all based on BOB dissapointing http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

I am happy they based it off of BOB.

excuse me but Officers in the Airborne did not have the rank painted on the back they had it on front they were proud to be officers and they wore the rank on the front

the officers on the beach landings sometimes painted the rank on the back of the helmet but mostly they also had it painted on the front with the officers bar on the back

I do not see how Snipers can fit into this game, mayb in SP if you pick up a german one and use it, but Sgt. Matt Baker wouldnt realy use a sniper would he?

The way MP is in the game aswell, how will a sniper work in that, i guess we'll have to wait and see realy.

No, Speedster, they werent specialists. In WWII rifle marksmen who shot the best were issued a scoped springfield. Im pretty sure they were still riflemen.

Paratroopers had access to Springfields, but most Airborne sharpshooters prefered the M1 Garand.
