sinking ships at dock?

I sneaked into the port of Toyohama and sunk 1 sub, and 1 cargo ship that where at dock, as well as 2 war ships in the bay that where not at dock but just cruising near the shipping dock.

Even though the messages said "enemy ship destroyed"� when I docked back at Pearl Harbor the kills didn't count.

Can you not sneak into there ports and sink ships?

i remember reading about a bug about this, the bug was that if you didn't hang around for the ships to effectivly sink then you didn't get credit for the sinking.
This was pre 1.4 if i remember correctly

are you update with the patched?

Hmmm! This strange because I have the first version of the game and recently bought the newer one. Both have credited me with kills when I sink em in port. I always radio in the status and it shows up in messages sent.

Tell the truth, did you sink 'em, refit & return again and hit 'em again??? You don't get the credit the second time when you do that!

Sorry, I should have given more info.

I have the 1.4 patch installed.

I hardly ever radio in my status back to home port.

My mission was a troop insertion on the coast of Okinawa Island. From there I went upto and sneaked into the port of Toyohama and did my thing.

I did not refit & return, I used all my torpedoes I loaded from the start of the mission back at Pearl Harbor.

I'll try it again later and see what happens. I'll check before I radio back, and after I radio back and see if that's not the problem.

You don't ever get any credit for sinking Jap submarines. Sometimes you don't get credit for harbor sinkings because the depth of the harbor is too shallow for the ship to sink to the depth that the log part of the game engine considers a sinking. That's just the was it is.

That must have been it dgrayson. I redid the mission and went to a different port and sunk 4 ships. I got credit for all 4.

The only thing this time was that I torpedoed 2 gun ships but the torpedoes missed. I aimed just below the water line, and just above the water line but both missed.

No big deal. I just surfaced and took them out with my deck guns.
