Is anyone else having trouble playing GRAW 2 on Windows XP x64. On a clean install it looks like I'm able to play but after installing any of the patches either it just freezes my computer at the loading screen or I get a Blue Screen at the loading screen (1.4).

Any ideas? I was able to play this just fine on Windows XP 32bit until I installed 1.4 but it seems like I'm having alot more trouble on the 64bit.

EDIT: OK, just tried playing on a fresh install and right when I get into the game my screen twitches out like crazy and my system just restarts. My graphics card is NOT OCED (7950GT) and I'm using the latest audio and video drivers. I can play CS Source just fine and I guess I'll try Vegas a try see if I get the same issues.

hmm... I automatically assumed that XP meant both 32 and 64bit versions. Does that mean Vista 64bit is not supported as well? I guess I can always switch back to XP 32bit but oh well.

your absolutly right. It should play on that OS. It's 2007 and not 1997. The game will play on the 64bit OS. Your reboot playing the game is probably a driver related issue. That's about 99% of the time. Set your OS up so that it doesnt reboot on a OS crash so that it can do a error dump within the bluescreenofdeath. Goto system failure and uncheck "automatically reboot". With this option unchecked might oneday save you from a OS reinstall. :P

Newest drivers don't mean better drivers.

I stand corrected. They should have specified that both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of XP will work, though.

An official bit of feedback.
The game does support 64bit but is not optimized as the 32 bit is.
Dont ask me any more thats all I got.

Im trying out this version at the moment and will post any probs and system specs in a few days.

This sound to me like problem i had with 160 seria of nvidia drivers prior to 163.44 Dynamic shadow bug that hapens when dynamic shadows is on any setting higher then low. Try 163.44 or higher driver if there is any for 64bit XP or disable dynamic shadows at ingame options screen and try.

EDIT* i believe only 7950 cards was reseting computers on XP(on vista was massage that driver stoped responding and CTD was ocured). Others (like 8800) simply had no shadows , but had no crashes either

dE.Maestro... your the man. I just installed the newest beta and it fixed it right up. Don't have time now to install the new patches but I'll check it out later to see if that issue is also resolved.

Thanks

no problems here. i get at least 10% better frames under x64 compared to regular 32 bit XP. it sure was a pain to get the latest x64 catalysts installed for my Mobility X1800, but DriverHeaven's Mobility Modder helped a lot.
