Help after windows reinstall needed

Hi,
after a complete reinstall of windows XP i wanted to (re-)activate my lockon FC/starforce protected/. with some fizzeling i got an activation key: but what comes next ? what to do with it ? when i try to run the lockon.exe it crashes with runtime error.
where to insert the activation key ?

I think the runtime crashes might be a separate problem. Did you have any luck getting ver 1.0 or ver 1.02 to run OK before upgrading to 1.1 and higher?
