HELP! PoP:SoT on PS2 ends too soon

Hi to Everyone. I'm playing PoP:SoT on my PS2 and about 33% through the game, in the baths. I defeat all the sand creatures, see the vision, save the game and when it finishes, seconds later I get a message that Ive been killed. I have full health and full sand "tanks." I thought it was a glitch in the version I owned, so I traded it at Game Stop for a "greatest hits" version and am having the same difficulty. Have I missed something and the game won't let me proceed because somehow I've not completed something I should have? It's a very odd glitch to be having. Please help.
