View Full Version : Make "Mission Statistics" available to be viewed during gameplay @ the Pause/OPSAT Screen in SC6

I was playing scct lately and I noticed that at the map screen (which shows a dimensional layout of your current stage), you can also see a display of "Alarms Triggered:__"
Why not just give the ability for the player to see MISSION STATISTICS during the actual gameplay? (After pressing pause or @ their OPSAT screen of course.)
It can be 2 types of statistics:
-Initial/Current Statistics
Available @ either pause menu screen.
-Overall/Final Statistics
Available for viewing AFTER completing a mission.
I'm not sure about how realistic this may sound (in terms of realism), but neither does surviving a chopper crash after being smacked by a missile. Which btw, Conviction does not have neither an "Alarms triggered:__" or "Mission Statistics." And yes, it is obvious why it doesn't: Lambert's dead, Sam is 'rogue', no alarms to worry about (except 3E), he's his own man, etc. That's not my objective for this thread.
I just thought I'd mention this idea because there are lots of times when I'm not too sure if I have been spotted by an enemy and I would have to wait until I completed the mission to see the mission statistics. Sometimes an enemy NPC would be so close in front of me before I performed a physical ko, that I could have sworn he saw me, only to find out the opposite.
And yeah, sometimes the stage music would not change so that would also be a bit confusing. I say this in regards to the Kokubo Sosho stage, since both the undetected and detected (as I like to call it) musics sound almost exactly the same.

I would like to see it rather in SCCT or SCDA... It was too hard to win Bathouse or Okhotsk on Expert with 100% rating... But if SC6 will be stealth and pantherless, this is good idea. But modern casual games haven't too big HUD... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

I 2nd that motion.
And now that I think about actually having that elemental display appearing in sc6, I think that would actually be verrrry convenient.
Forget about trying to keep eeeeverything soooooo realistic.. A video game is a video game: a GAME. (I'm agreeing with ya eoj19^ in ref to the 'I don't know about how realistic this may sound' statement) I don't know about anyone else, but I don't expect every aspect of a game to be realistically-based, and dare I even say I don't expect most of a game to contain livable realism (though...it would be nice to have most of the game realistic). Something might get sacrificed if there were to be a game where almost all of a game were to be realistic.
But with tech these days, you never know, right?
^eoj it really is a great concept in my opinion, that would offer a lot of convenience for a lot of players, whether they realize it or not.
>>>>>>I too have experienced that complication many a times, but at the Seoul stage, and what makes it even more of a prob is the fact that there is no bgm at all at Seoul!! Yes, yes, I am well aware that it is a '3-block-war' and all, but wasn't the Bathhouse reminiscent of a war/battle on a lesser scale? And the Bathouse had bgm! What's up with that?!<<<<<<

PLEASE don't remind me!!! I hated that part with like these little shower thingies and these 3 commando_guys with N.vision and gas masks were there! After like, 1,000,000,000 "Load Progress" tries, and that stupid bomb defusing w/ Shetland talking trash and 3 MORE of your friendly neighborhood commandos....THEN I finally achieved 100%. It was hell trying to get that, as I'm sure you can relate.
And the Okhotsk from scda?? Do I even need to go there... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif

I completely forgot that stage gave me that problem too!
But it would be a nice NEW addition imo to the sc series, considering the fact that scct and scda already have "Alerts triggered:__", wouldn't just make sense to have a "Spotted by Enemy: __"?
I can't speak for anyone else, but I know to me that would indeed be of great help in terms of ghosting it through/ replay value.
If anybody could make it happen, its ubi (should they choose to).

LOL, OhMG it isn't about bomb defusing or bathroom guys with NV... It's only about bugged camera during Shetland conversation... Defusing is very simple, maybe without sticks harder and bathroom is only about smokes and some tries Load-Fail-Load.
But back to the topic: Yea I am too for some decently designed hi-tech HUD. SC is nearly sci-fi, so its right choice. I loved those various indicators etc. in previous games... Stupid triple-coloured circle in SCDA was awful...

Hey, Versus-Mroj, what do you mean by bugged camera during Shetland conversation? Are you talking about a new strategy during that stage? If so, please share it! EVERYONE that I observed their posts, they go off topic momentarily, but ultimately it is ended up tying in w/ the main topic, so feel free to share!

Don't even remind me of that very annoying "GREEN...then YELLOW....then RED" lights." What is this? Kindergarden where we learn colors again?
But that's an interesting point that you made about SC being close to sci-fi. Never thought of it like that before. And with all of the modern-day tech that the government is using (secretly...of course), I bet ubi could think up something to give us an HUD that will make us say "WOW". Exactly... Yea, sound meter in SCCT was maybe for someone useless, but I extremely loved the feeling, that I have also sound under control. I could see how noisy am I even which is the limit level of sound, which can be hearded by enemies (dependent on environment). I think, that in oldgen SCDA this meter was even in "stereo" (separate sound meter for sounds from left and right ear). Subtitles (which I needed, because of my poor English) were in cool OPSAT comm box instead of just on bottom of the screen like in stupid movie... And gradual writing of the text was also cool. And in last point health meter! It is sign of good old-school games... Yea, I can live with stupid easy autohealing system, but I want see how close am I to death... Not only stupid red screen and after that game over...
And about Bathouse: This problem is (I think) two years solved. And I don't remember where I found it, but I think, that here on UBI forums... You must confirm, that on easy it is really easy, no problem... But on expert, there is awful bug, that you have only 97% (1 identified as intruder). But it isn't because bomb defusing or bathroom part... It's camera in meeting room!!! I tried this mission many times, but always only 97%, but after this tip, it was absolutely easy!!! And here is the solution: When you are entering the vent, you must crawling very slowly and immediately after start of Lambert or Shetland voice STOP crawling!!! You can't see anything in this position, but also camera can't see you... If you want all objectives, you can also hack notebook, but you must be careful and take the smallest angle. After the conversation is over, just save it and you are winner - 100%! Bathroom is only about smoke grenade and boiler room about sticky shokers... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

First off, your english is fine. You speak it better than most of my american friends!
^That sound meter SHOULD be in SC6! I'm really a stealthy/ghosty kind of gamer, and removing that sound system from SCDA and SCC just really didn't seem like a good idea on ubi's part. If they were trying to go for something new, why not just ask the loyal fans what ideas they have!
Although I don't really use the subtitles, sometimes if there's a joke that was made that I didn't get it or if an npc is saying something and I can't hear it or something, that's when I would cut on the Opsat comm box. They should keep that option in SC6 also.
And quite a few sc fans that I know feel the same way about the old-school health meter. They don't feel that self-healing does justice to the series since SC1-SC4 had that meter. In my opinion, I think that realistically a meter would make sense because it identifies how damaged you are and how much medical help the character needs, even after the screen stops blinking red or whatever the special effect is.
I really didn't like the self-healing in SCC. Ubi has the ability to make the HUD in SC6 awesome if they choose to.

Ooooohh! Now I remember!
When I first bought SCCT, I was so stressed out of the fact that I was able to get 100% on every stage except Bathouse on expert, I just said to myself, "you know what, I got 100% on every stage on expert, so one 97% couldn't hurt.". So after that I just decided to get 100% on normal too and just left it @ that.
I went back yesterday and didn't go all the way to the end of the vent and it worked! 100% on expert! Thanks! I used to think that one of those 2 guys who were shooting @ each other with the tables turned over, were spotting me so that's why I kept getting 97%.
I just hope if ubi decides to add back in-depth stealth elements into SC6, hopefully there won't be bugs this time around.

??I'm not like the hugest sc fan out there, but scct did catch my attention because I heard lyk so much about it. And one of my friends did complain about is that conviction didn't have mission ratings or anything lyk that and hud needed a total makeover, so for his sake I hope ubi can make a difference in sc6 too. Who knows? If sc6 is attractive, I may become a bigger sc fan than I am now...

Because of there are more normal, casual fans. And UBI (like any company) wants more money... In good old days, there were only HC gamers with good computers and 'normal people' thought about them 'pfff, crazy nerds', but now, those people have their fu***** multimedia computers or weak consoles with super vibrating and wireless controllers, 3D vision, and other (OhMG totally useless http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif) functions and they want some easy games which look good and needn't expensive HW... The coolest thing could be (which I was thinking about in past when SCCT was released) some "strength-meter" like in old Tomb Raiders. It is Tom Clancy's game, so it must be realistic. So Sam can't be hanging on pipe or rope forever... Yea, when he use also legs, but only with hand, he should after some time on pipe/rope reduce his speed and finally drop down... It's logical.
Yea, there could be autohealing system in SC6 (because of it is nonsense where you are moving same speed even with minimum health), but it must be represented with something in HUD.
Other ability which I really missed in SCC was swimming and diving. It was very cool in SCDA and without diving tools, there is also some space for inovating with breath. When you are too long under water, your dynamic health is falling down and you must surface yourself for recovery... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

That's true. If ubi were to ask everybody what should be in sc6, we would have a lot of casual gamers who can't really relate to the sc series, giving half baked input.

^Does make sense and would be a nice touch of realism into the series imo, to add some sort of a strength bar. It might be a little challenging at first (maybe too challenging for some), but adding a strength bar would encourage the player to find new routes instead of having to shimmy across a ledge all of the time, which might actually give the game more replay value.
Other ability which I really missed in SCC was swimming and diving. It was very cool in SCDA and without diving tools, there is also some space for inovating with breath. ^Also might be a good addition for ubi. I don't think that there should be too many missions that would leave no choice but to go underwater, but rather as an available option to use or not, with the exception of the times that you MUST dive in order to make it to the next objective/goal.
And since the topic is pretty much based on adding into sC6 things that should have been in SCC, why not just give the gamer the option to see the entire list of mission statistics by viewing their Opsat?. It can be 2 different types of mission statistics: INITIAL Mission Statistics (available to view it @ will during the missions) and FINAL/OVERALL Mission Statistics (Only viewed after completing a mission). I think this will help the player to be able to press pause, get a general idea of how they are doin thus far in the mission, and therefore they can decide what outcome they want the rest of the mission to have.
Also, why not add special, only in-game unlockable (not necessarily U-play) incentives for completing missions on various difficulties and completing them by different tactics (stealthily, assault, half and half, etc). I mean sure, ubi has Uplay for profitable purposes, but why not allow some of those stage/game modes/artillery to be available in-game, and the rest via download?

Very good idea. It's good when you can check if you are still 100% stealth or if you were spotted by someone anytime during mission... If you don't care, OK, go, enjoy supercool game as FPS with movie Hollywood elements. But if you are real ninja (http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif), load after every non-stealth fail... I absolutely understand, that there MUST BE CASUAL ELEMENTS IN THE GAME (some blind crazy HC fans can't accept that)... They will earn more money and they can try another game with Sam Fisher... Bad sales means less money and serie will end... BUT WHY THEY ARE REMOVING OLD GOOD STEALTH ELEMENTS? Yea, Béland said, that in SCC@07 weren't any stealth elements and they added what was allowed to them by time... OK, I haven't so big problems with SCC... It was about Sams revenge... But I am very expecting from SC6... And last point to your idea... It is absolutely necessary to have QUICK SAVE AND LOAD OPTION IN THE NEXT SC GAME! I said it manytime, but I must say it again IT WAS THE BIGGEST FAIL WITH CONVICTION!!! Stupid checkpoint system is absolutely amateurism maybe for kids games on portable consoles like Mario... OK, I am now fine...
I am not too hardcore old-schooler, but I want only good game with a lot of options and good gameplay... For example penalisation for knockouting enemies and breaking locks in SCDA on expert was even for me too much... I think, that it is absolutely clear, that SCCT2.0 WILL NEVER HAPPEN, but Im am absolutely sure (and Béland probably not), that it is possible to make good next gen SC game which will be so much succeeded as Chaos Theory, with new elements, easy options for casual gamers, Hollywood appearance, very strong story, cool moves, gameplay options for HC fans, never ending multiplayer and replay value like old SC's (I am still playing it, again and again... PC, Xbox 360, PS2, PSP...)

Agree completely. Why did they take the save option away? I don't know. Will they bring it back? For the sake of keeping happy customers, they better. If I'm correct, somebody did start a thread about "No save option? Ubi you're killing me!", so I think that speaks for itself.
And a few of my friends don't think ubi should change anything: they like the action twist that ubi took. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But in MY opinion, I don't think that the SC series thus far was made to be a first person shooter or an action-hollywood series, I think it was made in the words of good ole' Lambert:
"Your gun should ALWAYS BE YOUR LAST RESULT. INVISIBILITY IS YOUR BEST WEAPON". -SC1/SAR
"Covering up the evidence of your passing through, will go a long way towards proving your usefulness in the field". -SC1/SAR. (Referring to hiding the bodies)
What about that^ gives across the idea for an FPS/ACTION GAME??

Don't worry! I feel the SAME way! I was about to use my copy of conviction as a frisbee out of the window! The only thing that stopped me was the coop hunter.
SCDA?!?!?! WHY penalize for ko'ing an enemy???. Shooting out lights, maybe I can understand that logic, but KO's?? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? They are BAD GUYS AFTER ALL, RIGHT?. With all of the terrible mistakes and room for improvement that Conviction has room for, AT LEAST CONVICTION DIDN'T 'PENALIZE' (yeah, right...as if there were any reason to penalize in the 1st place) FOR KO........oh wait, I know, BECAUSE THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO WERE KO'ed IN THE WHOLE GAME WERE THE 4 COPS @ THE MONUMENT STAGE (and maybe Kobin after he got beat up in 3E?).
But SC:CT2.0 does seem like a far fetched dream that will never happen unfortunately

I think this will help the player to be able to press pause, get a general idea of how they are doing thus far in the mission, and therefore they can decide what outcome they want the rest of the mission to have.
UBISOFT. PLEASE LISTEN TO THIS IDEA. IT WILL MAKE LIFE A HECK OF A LOT EASIER. IT REEEEALLY WOULD.
UBI! I'm surprised you guys didn't put this in SCC!! BEING ABLE TO SEE THE RUNDOWN OF MISSION STATISTICS DURING THE ACTUAL MISSION??!!. GENIUS!
I really prefer 'ghosting' it through a lot of missions, and then again, sometimes I just wanna go straight berserk assault on everything (except civilians, of course). And why should I be forced to wait until the end to see my mission statistics?
Having this option viewable by bringing up the Opsat (or w.e the device will be this time in SC6) will be sooo much more convenient.

Exactly... Yea, sound meter in SCCT was maybe for someone useless, but I extremely loved the feeling, that I have also sound under control. I could see how noisy am I even which is the limit level of sound, which can be hearded by enemies (dependent on environment).
ONCE AGAIN. ANOTHER STROKE OF GENIUS. KEEP THE SOUND METER. IT LET'S ME KNOW HOW LOUD I AM 'TIP-TOEING' TOWARDS THE ENEMY.
This too, will make life a lot easier. Why should I be getting in close undetected to an enemy, only to have him "magically" turn around in the blink of an eye, gun in hand (like Quick Draw McGraw apparently), and then firing away like its a carnival.
Come on Ubisoft company. I know you have it in you. Don't let us down this time please. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

In addition to adding the ability to see the complete rundown of mission statistics during actual gameplay upon visiting the OPSAT (call it "Initial Statistics", after the stage call it "Final/Overall Statistics"), I think they should bring back they ultrasonic emitter, but make the sound that emits something other than a whistle.
I know there are already objects (bottles, cans, etc) that can be thrown to lure enemies away, but what if there's a portion of a stage that does not have any throwable objects @ that time?

Hmmmmm...sounds interesting but what do you have in mind when you say, "a sound other than a whistle?"
Perhaps, the voice of Scooby-Doo saying his classic, "Scoooooooby-dooooby-dooooooo!" Lol

I guess by the sound of your sarcasm, I assume you are bored? Too bad I don't have a scooby-snack 4 ya lmho.
But in reference to what I was referring to in terms of what sound I would like to hear the ultrasonic emitter make, I was thinking more towards a "running/stomping" sound. Or maybe even a "rolling-empty can" sound. Something that would have the guards drawn away from their patrolling position, yet, would be a bit more of a 'realistic' distractive noise.
I mean, don't you think that if a guard/npc heard a whistle, that it would indicate another human beings' presence? But then again, if ubi designs AI to be....well......'dumb'.....then I guess you could light a party popper and the npc still wouldn't hear you.

Exactly! It is nonsence since SCPT. In Pandora is really horrible and loud whistle. Whistling in Chaos is better, than nothing. But really cool is "Hey, pssst...". Yea, it's sentence and it means, that there IS another human being, but it's very quiet, so terrorists may think "Hm, I was dreaming about something, or maybe I am overworked... Thats nonsense to be there another man... Maybe it was a RAT (Bank http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)"...
But it could be a new "minigame" to choose from 5 samples of sounds to emit and it will depend to environment if your distract will be successfull! If you choose right sound, they will go to explore it... But if you choose bad sound, which isn't natural in specific environment, it will mean alarm!

I like the idea of having another minigame that corresponds to something very important (in this case, the u. emitter), just like the hacking minigame. And it is VERY true that if there is a sound that is not natural in certain environments, the logical thing to do for those poor misunderstood npc's is for them to sound the alarm.
I mean, if Sam sneaked into my living room while I was watching tv, and then he whistled, I could tell you for a fact that I would jump up screaming, and run to the kitchen for a knife or something or start throwing food @ him.
Ubi should stop for a second before they design AI, and ask themselves, "What would I (or another HUMAN being) do in a situation if sam were to do this specific action?". If they thought like that, they would have a much more realistic and challenging game. If the AI reacted realistically towards certain actions that sam would perform without actually being seen, that sounds like a nice challenge imo.

That was really a good one! And I bet if the AI could talk, that's exactly what they'd say!

The key word here is realistically. Sure to a certain extent the a game is a game, no matter which way you look at it. But there are certain games that contain more realistic elements than others. So that tells a dedicated sc fan like me (I am still a loyal sc fan for now...just awaiting sc6 andd then I'll decide...), that the tech is already there to make such a game. The only question is this:
Are the right people and dedication there?

Which camera system are you referring to? The one @ Lincoln Memorial or Whitebox?
There have been so many posts and threads from very intelligent gamers and we all know what we are talking about. The biggest question is will ubi pay us any attention in the end? (Of course, aside from what Quidprokuo already mentioned).

Yea. Truly it was the second biggest disappointment in SCC after checkpoints (1000000 x http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif), that there aren't any minigames... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

I know exactly what you mean. When I first took control of that camera system, I thought "ok. Maybe there will be some sort of tricky-gadget-method on order to record the meeting". Man, was I ever wrong! Moving the joysticks left to right and clicking a button twice? Am I supposed to be "blown away" by doing something that has been the exact same thing since SAR?
At least upgrade a little. Add a challenge other than "move 'L' stick 1 inch this way, and 'R' stick 2 inches that way".

Since you guys are on the topic of adding things, I hope ubi makes shooting the dead corpses, more realistic..
I'm all for pressing 'select' and being able to see how many alerts triggered, times spotted, etc. But would also appreciate if the dead corpse would 'move around/jump/twitch' upon impact of a speeding bullet (as it was in sc:ct and sc:da). They don't even need to be dead in order to react to the bullet, what if they were knocked unconscious and lying on the floor? How would the living, but unconscious corpse react to being shot?

Hiii joe! (Yeah...I blew your cover http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif )
I actually am posting 2 itswar's response.
I know this may sound kinda creepy coming from a girl, but I TOO WANNA SEE THE DEAD/UNCONSCIOUS CORPSES TWITCH WHEN SHOT!!!
C'moooooon ubiiii!!!!
Oh yea, n about that other stuff about the statistics being available on the pause screen, I for 1 would b reeeeeally shocked if ubi doesn't include that in sc6. What do they have 2 lose beside a bad rep?

Yes, yes. I know who you are annie. Hi there.
I know this may sound kinda creepy coming from a girl, but I TOO WANNA SEE THE DEAD/UNCONSCIOUS CORPSES TWITCH WHEN SHOT!!!
ya know what? That actually is the 1st time I've heard a girl say something like that. interesting.
Well, then again, you're familiar w/ the series and all, so I shouldn't be too shocked.
But I too agree that ubi should have kept that element of realism alone in SCC. (When it comes to simple flaws that ubi overlooked, I keep asking myself 'what were they thinking?'). In terms of real-life, if a corpse were unconscious/dead, and
someone fired a bullet at that corpse, wouldn't a new wound open up and/or wouldn't the corpse twitch @ all?
Ubi, 007: Goldeneye FOR NINTENDO 64 HAD THIS FEATURE. NINTENDO 64. Are you guys going to allow yourselves to be outdone by a game from n64? (Don't get me wrong, n64 rocked...MEGA hard. But you get the point.)
I for 1 would b reeeeeally shocked if ubi doesn't include that in sc6. What do they have 2 lose beside a bad rep?

I couldn't agree more annie
