I picked a ship on radar, showed it going medium. Storm and rain..so going in for a gun kill. Then it went slow. I got up and it was about sunk, no men showing, but prop barely turning, but making sinking noise, but a live ship.
I made the mistake getting close, but nothing.
After awhile it's stern came out from a wave and the gun shot at me, so I put it out of it's misery.
I've seen planes attack ships and do this, but no planes and storm..But what was wierd it was 600 yards away and boy when it blew, it did 40% damage to my sub and we had a few burials at sea.

I've encountered this phenomena while playing SHIII a number of times, but have yet to see it in SHIV.

One thing that could cause that ship wallowing in that manner is if the wave attuenation settings in the sim.cfg were altered. I did that in the last posted version of TMO for SH4 version 1.4. Occasionally this would happen. Ultimately i dropped/reversed that change to save myself alot of work in the zones.cfg file, and so that TMO "Plays nice" with enviormental mods i know people will run. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

I've seen this happen a number of times, both in the stock version and now in RFB. I've also seen the opposite occur, where a ship is riding so high on the sueface that torps pass right undeneath it, (even when set at 10' depth), and the ship's propellors are almost completely out of the water. Both war and merchant ships I've seen these with. Weird. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

I've seen ships like this a lot in harbors, but never one going medium, then slow. It was stopped dead, but prop barely turning.

I once had a Medium European Composite running so high on top of the surface that it's prop was barely in the water, yet it was keeping speed with the rest of the convoy (@ 9kts). I shadowed the convoy for several hours, until dusk, before moving in for the kill. By this time, the European Compositen had fallen behing somewhat, (a couple of miles I think) so I zeroed in on it. By this time, it was down to about 7kts. I set two torps for 12' depth and then watched them pass harmlessly underneath the center of the ship. I set the next two torps for 7' depth, same thing happened. I finally hit home with two torps set for 5' depth but, wasted 6 torps on that sucker. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif
Darn ship looked like a fishing bobber in the water. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Many of the ships in stock ride high. Most supermods have fixed this to some extent or some other mod I have did, so I seldom see that.
Often allied planes will attack and leave ships in this shape, but a bad storm. Would be cool if we did have such stormy weather that it sunk or disabled ships....as much as I wish, I know that wasn't the case.
Just strange to see it go from medium to dead in the water during the storm, so I'll pretend the storm did it.

In FOTRS I have seen ships rocking back and forth so bad their bridge nearly touched the water. And ships riding so high out of the water that torps set at 5 feet would go right under them. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

I once was tracking a convoy on radar in a very bad storm.
All of the sudden a gray ship sunk icon appeared where a DD had been.
I assumed that it sank because of the bad weather. No planes showed up on radar
and it was clear of all other ships. Actually I've seen this twice.
Both times in TMO if I remember right.
