Hello, and goodbye...

...and don't bother with your "snide" (I'm sure incredibly original) replies.

I came here to these forums, and to the site as a whole, to get help and assistance with FC2 as the game repeatedly instructed on my screen. Although what I found over and over when I came here was nothing but a gang of rude and thuggish fanbois who attack anyone who dares to question the "greatness" and seemingly "bug-free" FC2. People can't even ask a simple and honest question in these forums without being riddiculed and/or attacked!

Originally over the past few days I thought I must be doing something wrong since I wasn't having much fun playing FC2...after all the reviews I'd seen seemed to be positive, I thought coming here MUST be the answer! Surely my "friendly and helpful" fellow gamers would know how to get the most fun out of the game! Unfortunely what I found here was that #1 it wasn't me, it WAS the game that had major problems; and #2 in all my decades of gaming (as many of you have had) this is one of the rudest, and most unhelpful game forums I've seen.

I guess miserable fanbois love company.

In any case...flame away, you'll only be typing reassurances for each other. The rest of us will be off to positive places and "AAA" titles.

You're not alone in your distaste for the numerous bugs, glitches, and poor design decisions made by the devs - although the game never should have been released like this, it was. I must give some credit that patches are being worked on; how effective they'll be at making this game fun remains to be determined.

You'll find equal maliciousness between the fanbois and the haters, just ignore them. Your feedback will help prevent future franchisicide.

i don't thinkt he problem with the forums is so much that alot of people here are *******s, rather one or two people will make an ******* remark then the rest decide they want to jump on the band wagon...

i'm on your side, especially with the problems... but this is by far not the worst gaming forum i've ever been in, ffxi.allakhazam.com is 30x worse... it's a forum for elitist who like to show off their e-**** anytime someone asks a question they find to be 'stupid'. within minutes the thread will be swarmed with 30-40 flaming posts...

sorry to see you go, tho.

Well, what are you having trouble with.

Perhaps we can help.... however, I assure you that if you are trying to complete the SP as fast as possible and always drive a vehicle through the checkpoints- you will NOT have much fun.

There are many reasons for people behaving the way they do on forums all over the internet.

Some people don't like posters who use SCREAMING CAP LOCKS.

Others don't like posters who "kant spel proply" or use punctation.

Others don't like people who post topics that have already been coverered to death (admittedly one of my pet hates).

Others dont like posters who suggest what they consider to be stupid ideas ("I want them to add heat seeking rockets and lazers to the hanglider in the next patch").

Some people like to belittle people, usually as a release for their own frustrations in their life (like being frustrated with numerous FC2 bugs, etc).

There will always be "keyboard warriors" who hide behind the anonymity of the Internet to behave in a way they probably would'nt if talking to you face to face.

Sometimes a post can be taken in the wrong context, and therefore interpreted in a different way in which it was meant.

I'll end this post by telling you all that you smell http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Or use the same wand to close a very pertinent thread that could impact UBI in a negative way, God forbid... UBI can do no harm! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Worry not liptus, there are news of a fix-all patch, the mother of all patches that will be coming soon... or so the rumor states.

There wouldn't be a forum then, unless of course, you count the few fanbois here! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

But again, it is your forum and God forbid people know the truth about the game.

I had to read the original post about six times to make sure I understood what he was saying.

Still makes no sense, since 99.5% of all posts on these boards are rants about how horrible and screwed up fc2 is and how we all need to sue and murder the staff of Ubi for the crimes they've committed on us. I was sure that's what the "vileness" was going to be. As is, I can't believe he's actually read a single post on these boards.

Yea lol....thread of the week. I got more enjoyment out of that post, than I did playing FC2 this week.

I dont come to this particular forum anymore. (I accidentally clicked on it and saw this thread)

Anyway, there are a lot of rantings here. I am guilty of that myself in the past. In the end, this is an awesome game and yes it has issues, but when you raise the bar like this, what do you expect? We have 20 square KM to roam. There are SO many more of us playing this with a cumulative hour total FAR surpassing ANYTHING the testers and Dev team could possible even try to do. I am an aspiring game developer and I know that there are always unintended and unforseen things that are going to happen when writing code. Sometimes its a good thing, sometimes its bad.

I have full confidence that Ubi is addressing the issues as quickly as they can. I sincerely apologize for my early rantings, though not too horrible and numerous.

A lot of the crashing issues are probably simply because this game requires a LOT of horsepower to maintain stability. The game will play fine on high settings, but may crash anyway without lag or any warning simply because your rig CANNOT handle it. This seems to be the nature of the program. There is almost mo possible way to account for every single variable in 20 square kilometers of play area that is completely open from the beginning. This is a groundbreaking game and deserves a break.

So lets allow the team to breathe a little and relax.

Also, I have maintained stability lately by just turning a few things down. Experiment with your PC. Things that work for some just dont work for others. I stepped back my resolution but yet still kept the settings pretty high and I rarely have crashes anymore.

If it was not for the online play I would most likely not even know where my copy of FC2 was. I never did finish the single player mode as I just found it too well weak. After all the hype it got beforehand I was expecting something out of this world but ended up with not even a mediocre game

Which is your own fault because you were the one with the high expectations.

As for the forum's. I think the fact that most mods voice their opinion and aren't Ubi-employees proves that this forum community-friendly.

LOL I don't think even if I had low expectation it would have been that good. The graphics are outstanding I will say that but the game play is rather weak to say the least http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

having a mixed community of PC gamers and consol gamers does not help, both breeds of cyber warriors with very different opinions

Well that is not exactly true either.

PC and Console users BOTH want a good game that makes them feel like they have spent their money wisely.

The only real DIFFERANCE really is that PC users are looking at more system specific problems like certain bugs that affect the configuration of their PC or the lack of proper SDK tools.

The opinions of the people from both types of platforms are valid and as has been proven on the Map making forum, both sides actually can share some info that works across Console AND PC.

Regarding all of the Rants going on, most are justified sure.
but it mainly comes down to people just trying to have control over something that they have no control over.

The only thing it might help is to release some tension from that person.
