So, to all you Battlefield 2 players, I have a question for you. I've started playing more on ranked servers, and am about to be able to unlock a new weapon, and am trying to decide which. I'm leaning towards the G3, as I play assault a lot, and the additional damage it does should help. Do any of you have any experience with this weapon, and if so, what do you think of it?

I know remmdog loves it. I opted for the L85A1 (medic) because that's what I play the most. The downside to the G3 is the clip size (20 rounds vs 30) and no grenade launcher. But it rips through infantry as good as the support machine gun, with much better accuracy.

I think that gun is a fine choice. The DAO12 (anti-tank) seems to be a big hit with people who use that class, and a lot of people also like the G36C (Spec Ops), although I will note that you have to use a hard sight with it instead of the laser dot.

I unlocked it myself, and it does great for anti-infantry. The only problem is the accuracy when using full-auto: It can be as unaccurate as a submachine gun. But using controlled single shots it's great on any map, the city maps especially.

That's the main reason why I've been thinking about getting it. I'm going to be 40 come December, and I just don't have the reflexes of the younger gaming crowd. Quite often while playing, I'll come into a situation where an opponent and I will see each other at pretty much the same time, and it becomes a quick action contest to see who wins. I almost always lose with the M4 or other army's equivalent. I win some with the support MG, but not at any kind of range. However, I've done well with the assault rifle because of the better damage. I'm looking for that edge, and since I really like playing assault kit also, that seems to be a good fit. It's just that I've been trying to find opinions on it, and of course there are those who hate it as well, and few of them can give any concrete specifics.

Some people don't like the G3 because of it's accuracy when not using the iron sights. When you're not, it looks as if it's as accurate as a support MG. But it's actually very accurate when aimed.
