I played uru when uru live was around, but since then i kinda dropped out and have had to redo my character and all the puzzles since i had it uninstalled for a while. My question is what exactly does everyone do in UU now? I would think its a bit boring personally (no offense intended btw).

When I was little, we liked to play with Tinkertoys... sticks, spools, etc. that could be assembled into any kind of machine or building that we could imagine. Looking at it cynically, it was just a box of sticks. But when my brother and I opened the box, our imaginations were fueled and we could spend a whole afternoon with that "box of sticks."
Until Uru, admittedly, is limited to what you saw in Prologue. There are no new territories to explore, although we can build user-defined marker missions, and with a special KI patch we can gain new functionalities that make exploring more interesting.
Really, the amazing part about Until Uru is the community that has grown up around the game. The original Myst Live community was pretty considerable, but that was different because we were fully expecting more content and adventures to come. In Until Uru, we know that the content is frozen. But we in the community have taken it upon ourselves to take that content... that "box of sticks"... and run with it. It's now a playground for our imaginations.
Playground is really a nice analogy. I work at a grade school, and even now I can look out over the playground and see the swings, the playsets, the basketball hoops, the grassy playing field. The scene may never change, but in the imagination of a child, that equipment takes on a different aspect depending on their mood. I recall my own elementary school days, plotting with friends before recess and deciding what adventure we were going to have that day. Teachers watching us might see us merely playing on the swings, but in our minds we were on aerial rescue missions, ready to parachute into the fray... actually, we jumped out of the swings for a nice little flight while the teachers weren't looking.
SO -- all of that to say that the now-fixed environs of the Cavern and Ages have become a playground for our community. We have the D'olymics sporting events, parties in the Pub every Thursday night, or we might just gather and chat. Yeah, the scene might show several avatars just standing around shifting from one foot to the other, but thanks to imagination, we're actually THERE, visiting with virtual friends we've come to know well.
Add to this the recent development of an Uru podcast, "The Cavern Today." As a TCT staffer and on-air personality, I can assure you that the behind-the-scenes spirit is pretty considerable, and that we're really pumped about what we're doing.
And all this from a game that presumably "died" a year and a half ago.
I'm not sure what the current status is regarding getting into Until Uru, but if the chance arises, give it a shot. You'll be very welcome!
Cheers,
