Looks pretty cool, but I don't think I could stand free-running in first person http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif I will keep an eye on this one, though.

Why first-person? Every game nowadays doesnt have to be this way.

If you take out the first person perspective, you're virtually left with Assassin's Creed style free running. At least that's what the video kind of hints at.

Personally if the game were third person I don't think I would really be that interested in it. I like the first person perspective because it's a new take on the idea, that is innovative and hasn't been done before. Sure there are too many FPS games, but there isn't many that try to re-imagine the perspective but kept it the same, that's what has brought the genre down. Hopefully this game will break that cycle

It looks interesting. I don't know how that kind of perspective and that gameplay will mix with my inner ear though.

I'm not so sure about it.

Free running and first person do not mix well at all in my opinion.

First person is way too limited of a view for the level of environmental awareness that free running requires.

Otherwise it looks cool I guess.

Well come to think of it, I do free run in 3rd person. :/

Well, as far as video games go, at least. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Besides, real life first person is not half as limited as video game first person.

theres a video on IGN about the game, speaking to the developers. if not, check youtube.

One of the peeps says that the viewpoint is stretched kind of, to give the effect of peripheral vision. Should help http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

It is based on Parkour (http://youtube.com/watch?v=TPIw3cv8Zls) or [Parkour] Wikipedia.org (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkour). The enviromental awareness is a non-issue, do you notice how the level design looks so santized and clean? Do you see the bright colours? The colours are there to show the path to take, making the experience intuitive, each colour doing a certain thing. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The level of immersion in third person would not be as interesting or as immersive, it simply would lose most of the feel. For example at the end when she takes that big jump, and she looks down. In third person that wouldn't be as dramatic, play the matrix online, or city of hero's, CrackDown or Assassin's Creed and you will know what I mean. Nor would jumping off a building backwards, it wouldn't give that feel of you falling backwards. It would look like Assasssin's Creed or Crackdown, as good as those games are jumping building to building, they don't feel unique in the same way this game is shown immersion wise, ironically it would feel like any other third person game which cannot convey scale of what you're doing.

Lack of peripheral vision is in my opinion one of the two most crippling factors of first person view. Every one of them I pick up and play, I swear it feels like tunnel vision every time.

And I guess it won't be as limited as I thought if they're putting a peripheral feel into consideration.

I was really impressed after seeing the trailer. I'm not a big fan of EA, though...

I wasn't exactly happy when I saw the logo, either. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

But if there's anything super amazing about this game, it's her ninja shoes http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
