View Full Version : I love the Apocalyptic Survival Theme

This theme has always been one of my favourites in the movie field. ie I Am Legend, Clover Field, Dawn of the Dead, 28 days later etc. Not saying that I hope there will be big monsters or swarms of blood thirsty zombies lurking around every corner (dead rising was a dissapointment). But even just a game that puts you in the struggle for survival against guys who are willing to kill you for a bottle of Ozarka sounds captivating. But please for the love of God steer away from the overly repetative, make me want to stab out my eyes and cut off my fingers so that I can never play another video game gameplay that Assassins Creed was full of. It had great potential but took a wrong turn some where down the road. Mix it up, make it interesting. I dont want to have boss fights that are the same as the previous boss fights, only with different bosses. Ive been dreaming about a game like this for some time now, and I really hope I dont get let down.

Wow this turned into kind of a rant. I originally wanted to talk only about the theme but I guess this is good too. It allowed me to get alot of my frustration towards assassins creed off of my chest.

Interesting to read the disaster movies being quoted as a reference points for the game and yet none are my favourites, come one guys we need a game like the Poseidon Adventure or the Towering Inferno, Classics!!

I agree, I think that this game is going to set itself apart from the others. I could be taking it too far though. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Alright here is a link. Everyone seems to think that this game has something to do with the apocalypse or alien attack or something of the sorts. http://kotaku.com/5023908/jades-next-game-+-i-am-alive this is a link explaining that it is about an earthquake that levels chicago. I read in a different thread that people thought it was an attack and they refer to it as "the attack". Please do some research before posting info such as that.

adamska, ur an idiot.
One would hope that somebody could realise that the 'theme' the OP is referring to is not a desktop theme or whatever, but a genre or ideology. But here's a link to the theme anyway (for adamska16 only): http://tinyurl.com/6mwhgl

There's also Disaster Report and Raw Danger for the PS2. Surviving an earthquake in the first game and in the sequel, a flood.

I'm hoping it will be more of a disaster movie plotline (The Poseidon Adventure, old) rather than an apocalyptic movie storyline with monsters/zombies (Cloverfield).
They should watch 'Man Vs Wild' with Bear Grylls, and 'I Shouldn't be Alive' on the Discovery Channel. Hopefully with next-gen interactivity the person to person and person to environment interactivity will be enough to drawn you in and create a great experience.
Some movies about human nature in jepoardy: The Poseidon Adventure (origial), The Flight of the Phoenix (original), The Towring Inferno, The Mist.
