View Full Version : What Upsets You The Most For Using Poison.

The only thing that sucks about using poison is the time it takes to kills someone. But it's good since it gives a lot of points so i guess that balances it out. Now what happened to me was I was playing Advance Wanted and most of the people that were playing were really good. So I was 6th place with about less than 2min left. By that time I got my loss streak so I now have the 2x score. So i was waiting till my smoke and poison filled back up. So when it did, i was stalking my target then when i was able to catch up to my target, I focus, smoke, and poison. I unlocked the 2nd posion where it gives you more points but the time is 6 seconds or something like that. So when i finally got the poison off, i walked off and when it was about to take into effect, BAM, a Harlequin came in and killed the same target. I was like "aw c'mon man". And i was waiting for that kill too since i haven't gotten a kill before that and that was the last one i could've gotten to get into at least the top 3. But oh well. I've learned that if my target has 2 or more pursuers, it's better to just focus, and kill then to focus and poison and risk someone else getting the kill before the poison takes into effect.

What upsets me the most is that there isn't a super-slow poison that awards a bigger bonus for using it.
Whoever started this hilarious trend of blowing two ability slots and your identity in order to add 150 points onto a single kill is awesome.
You all need to keep at this with due diligence. Seriously, I can't keep up with it. Don't stop.

Yea, I've gotten unlucky like this many times. If it becomes too much of an issue, there are always regular and fast acting poisons. They are definitely worth less points, but you won't run into this issue near as much.
Also, mpagano is probably right. Smoke bomb is just drawing attention to your target and immediately letting other pursuers know exactly where he is. Try it without smoke bomb and maybe your target will evade the others more easily.

I won't use slow acting poison on my target if he has more than 2 pursuers. Nothing worse than losing a 700+ point kill when some high-profile 100 point kill master swoops in and wrecks it.

yeah the most frustrating is having someone kill the target after you *just* poisoned them. If I had the money for a mic, I'd try to let my manhunt team know I got em (also to yell things at ppl that use the Prowler for EVERY SESSION! Knock it off!) If it wasn't for the challenge of killing an opponent that's already been poisoned (I think its called 'Playing with your Food') I kinda wish they'd make it so you couldn't kill a poisoned enemy agent.

Scathing sarcasm noted. However I agree. Using up two abilities for one kill just to attain an extra +150 for focus is a bit much. Though, if you have rapid reloading smoke bombs, and you're using the 2x Score loss streak, that's when I would deem it appropriate to use such a tactic. Otherwise I'd just save my smoke bombs for when I really need it, like to get a +200 stun and +100 escape.

I know right (700+ gone) but i've gotten it to work a bunch of times now. It was just that time where someone just happened to get the kill before the poison goes into effect. Usually when i use poison, i usually get the kill. Even when my target has 2-3 pursuers. I guess i just got lucky with those and not this one. But oh well. Lesson learned. Just gotta be more careful now with poisoning my target when my target has 2 or more pursuers.

I never really looked into it like that. Yea i know you get 200 with smoke and stun and 100 for escape when i do use it. But i never really paid attention to it. Maybe because even when i get the kill with the smoke bomb first, by the time my pursuer is about to get me and i notice him/her, my smoke have already refilled. Its only been a couple times where i've used the smoke then a couple seconds later, i get killed and my smoke hasn't refilled yet. But most the time, i do have smoke for when my pursuers thinks he/she can get me off guard.

I suppose I'm just paranoid like that :P I would hate to be caught unprepared. I still don't think using a smoke bomb just for the extra +150 is worth it, but if it was an incognito(+300), hidden(+200), slow acting poison(+300) focus(+150) kill(+100)
on 2x Score, then that's probably worth looking in to.
How does one unlock rapid reload smoke bombs anyway?

I suppose you could mostly alternate between poison and focus (via smoke bomb) kills to get more points if you don't have the x2 bonus going. It makes mathematical sense.

and that's one of the reasons why i use both abilities for points and add variety to those bonuses too, now thats a sick amount of points.the most I've gotten with that combo including all other bonuses with variety, and 2x score was 2200. I know you can get more but for me that was the most i've gotten for 1 kill.
For the rapid reload smoke, im not sure about that, as i would like to know the answer to that also.

I think you have smoke+stun 50 pusuers.

You can also work on other bonuses (outside of poison and focus). The more options you have, the better (variety, greater variety, extreme variety). You also won't depend on smoke bombs so heavily for getting high point averages. Maybe you'll discover another ability worth trying!

if they've got more than one pursuer (which you can see by the blue icons) then as soon as you poison them drop a smoke so nobody else can get to them.

Someone can still get an air assassination sadly, which are unaffected by smoke bombs, so roof top runners, or smart people who runs up a wall first and jumps down onto the poisoned target will steal that kill.

@ Mpagano - This is why you're out of the jerk-spotlight, your posting is getting too damn helpful.
Going for the variety bonuses is the way to go. I always read that mute isn't very good, but I tried it trying to get these bonuses and I love it. The best is when you pursuer is walking directly at you. You walk right up to him and punch him in the face. You know they have to get pretty ****ed when they can't do anything.

I like poison, and think losing kills trying to use it on someone with other pursuers is fair.
My problem is when I get my target killed by a TEAMMATE for 150 points when I've set up incognito +300 hidden +200 focus +150 slow poison +300 and I'm about to hit greater variety +400 with the kill as well (which I found out when I got greater variety off of "intercepted" and it was the first time in the match that I'd used poison)

I like using smoke and poison together not just for the 150 bonus but it helps fend off my pursuers as well
