We have to liven up the forum somehow, and the thought just struck me when I made a little contest with a certain quote.

<STRIKE>I'll edit the names of the solvers in this post and their points.</STRIKE> (keep your own god****ed score http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) the points given are up to the quote givers, so I can award 20 or even 20 million points if I want to. everytime a guy solves a quote he has to think of a new one...

I'll start with an easy one:

(p.s by quotes I mean, quotes from movies, books, real life... whatever)

"not all treasure is silver and gold, mate" (20 pts.)

<STRIKE>SpartakTrnava - 20

"With great power comes great responsibility" a lame 2 pointer.

"Every man lives, not every man truly dies" a 20 bonus point quote (bonus points only tip favor in a tie)

"I have been denied everything! even my revenge!!" a rather obscure quote worth 10 points and 10 bonus points.

Coconuts feel free to adjust the bonus point system or to reduce/increase my quote point costs.

Pointcount: 2.5 from other thread. (might be 5 if my argument proves valid).

alright, maybe I didn't make myself clear...

1. you're supposed to value your quote.
2. you're not allowed to post a quote unless you solved one.

2 simple rules, people. let's live by 'em.

Edit:

3. keep your own score, it's too hard for me to edit after every solved quote.

Zam, value your quote.

I suggest you drop the system of everybody putting a value to their quote and choose a standard value - let's say 5 or 10 (that you can divide between various respondants if they only give half answers). If you give them the freedom of valueing, I suppose that what will happen is that we'll have people valueing their own quotes with more and more points, which will get very hard to count. It will also be maybe harder for others who want to join the game later to follow the rules. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Of course it`s a question
*hint, the author has already been mentioned in this thread*
Just tell me which character says it, I`ll not ask for which book, he says it in most of the books he`s in.

Correct Joergino. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

The wilde Oscar?
(At least he said something like this about England and the US, IIRC.)

Anyway, here's a new one http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif:

"Lucifer was an idiot. It wound up lord and master of nothing at all."

Thanks!
I think Wilde's comment was slightly different - he wrote something like "England and America have many things in common, with the exception of language, of course."

Edit: Just found it:

"We have everything in common with America nowadays, except, of course, the language." (The Canterville Ghost)

Is this from a film? It sounds familiar, but I can't place it.
Someone had been almost killed and complained about what had happened to their hair.

Care to provide another hint (era, perhaps)?

My quote is still unanswered, too, btw:

"Lucifer was an idiot. It wound up lord and master of nothing at all."

Hint: Not Terry Pratchett, but sort of related to him. (And no, not Douglas Adams either, but also related to him. Should be quite easy now...)

Edit (Just to sneak in a book recommendation): This was said by the (renegade) angel Islington in Neil Gaiman's novel 'Neverwhere', which is a marvelous book about the 'real' London underground.

It's kind of hard to follow this game if there are many quotes that are unanswered. Why don't have one question at a time? Let the one who answered correctly post a quote, and the one who answers that one correctly post the new one.

If no one gets it right after a day and the original poster doesn`t give the answer, we should just move on to a new quote.

Then it was a reference to Army of Darkness in the game. Blood was released in 1997, the film in 1993.

But since I was also right and nothing new has appeared yet, I'll ask a new one myself:
