According to the Dev Q&A LAN is supported. It seems others have had success with LAN.

Stop posting about firewalls and routers. This isn't the issue. I have been playing up until this recent [week-old] forum-wide connectivity problem and I don't even have a router. So I have no ports to open, period. I have only had the usual hiccup/freezing problems, nothing with connectivity until now, as most are having as well.

Apparently, UBI servers have been down for a week OR they updated our games, which corrupted something. Supposedly people are reinstalling UBI game launchers and/or the game itself and getting some results. At least I BELIEVE this is the only way people are still currently playing.

If UBI can break it without my doing, they better as well fix it the same way. I will not be jumping through hoops to be playing a game that is already frustrating with all the multiplayer problems in the first place. I have voiced my bugs and reported my problems and kept my personal comments to myself. There's no reason to shout at a wall.

There are plenty of games that actually work that can be played, and I plan to do just that until I see progress.
