I just bought the retail DVD version of R6V thinking that it would be a great title such as Rainbow Six Raven Shield and Ghost Recon AWF that run very well on my system. I have yet to find out how good R6V actually is. The reason is because my ?new? ATI AIW X800XT does not have Shader Model 3.0. For me I am very disgusted that Vegas does not allow users with only SM 2.0 cards to play this game and I cant see how it is an issue now when is has not been in the past. The one thing I am most upset about is the lack of warning on the packing or the website the you can?t play this game with SM 2.0 video cards. Now I am stuck with a $49.99 game that I can?t play or return. I hope for me and the many other disappointed gamers (check the fourms) will add support for Shader Model 2.0 in a patch down the line or at least put a larger warning for this issue on the website. If anyone has a solution to this problem please post it.

I think it is a real shame too. What I try to do before I get a game is look at the support forums, and also ask a few people what they think. Sometimes certain games have MAJOR bugs with certain cards (ex. Splinter Cell DA w/ 8800GTS and GTX). I like to know beforehand before I drop 50$ on a title.

I would sell your AIW quickly to try and make what you can for it. Then I would recommend another ATI card in the same price range and throw in a little more for a TV tuner/capture card. I have a feeling that SM 2.0 isn't going to be around for MUCH longer. There are several games that stopped supporting SM 1.1 in the past, so people with sm 2.0 should expect that on the horizon. I remember when people were told Oblivion didn't support SM 1.1 and you HAD to have a SM 2.0 card. I know there are certain developers who take the time to include SM 2.0 support and still will be for a while, but I can garauntee you there will be other developers who will be just as lazy in the future.

Good Luck!
