So, what are you reading right now?*

I am currently 3/4 through _Choke_ by Chuck Palahniuk. I'm re-falling in love with his writing style and hilarious character work. It was also recently made into a film starring the often underrated Sam Rockwell (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1024715/).

*This is called "Ben steals Ninja_Raiden's thread (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/7661041353/m/6381004346) from the FDUK forums". But remember, mimicry is the highest form of praise... yet somehow, also the lowest form of stealing. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

EDIT: I should also mention that I am not the fastest of readers, so you probably won't see me posting a ton in this thread. You book-hounds can post away, though.

Almost finished The Judas Strain, by James Rollins. I would say his more recent books are Tom Clancy meets The Davinci code.

Not to be a jerk or anything, but your signature is HUGE... way beyond regulation size. I really like Dawkins. I'm reading The Selfish Gene at the moment along with The Republic by Plato.

I recently wrapped up the wonderful A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry and am now onto the Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde. I highly recommend them, especially for booky-loving people. Great fantasy/crime books. And a nice quick read for the subway.

If you like reading, I should also point you to the Goodreads (http://www.goodreads.com/) site. It's a great place to keep track of books you've read and books you want to read. There's a friends/networking element to it, but the best part for me is just having a place to put all the books I've been wanting to read. It's awesome!

I liked it so much, I've incorporated it into many a discussion and paper.

Did Dawkins invent the idea of meme or just give that name to the concept?

I have three books I am now chipping away at:

1) Against a Dark Background by Iain M. Banks -- Bothari let me borrow this, his favorite book ever, he says. I am only about 50 pages into it, Max.

2) Banana: The Fate of the Fruit that Changed the World by Dan Koeppell -- I am writing a speech for my public speaking class on the banana. Did you know the banana is the largest fruit crop in the world, and the 4th largest crop overall? And that evidence points to the banana as being the Forbidden Fruit which Eve partook and gave to Adam... and that the banana as we know it is could be GONE from the supermarket in as few as 10 years! Scary sh*t!

3) I Am America (And So Can You!) by Stephen Colbert -- this is bathroom reading. I've often wondered: how do illiterate people poop? Must be a horrendous ordeal.

At the moment I'm reading Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Novels and Stories Volume II by Arthur Conan Doyle.

I plan on starting Frankenstein by Mary Shelley soon.
