HOMM5 Hammers of Fate Dwarves/Runes

I loved playing dwarves and using runes in the campaign... why can't I play as them in a single-player game? I choose Fortress, and am never given a Hero to choose from that seems to be able to use runes, even though the Rune Tower is in the "build" area. What gives? Can you only use runes in the campaigns?

The dwarven heroes and their runic magepower is avaible only in the add-on maps. On the original maps they work incorectly.
Try looking at all maps on some you can select a hero.

The ones that weren't in the original http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. I don't have a list right now but if you click on the show multiplayer maps (in custom game) you will see about 24 maps. Some of the arem added by the Heroes 5 Hammers of Fate expansion you to play those to be able to use dwarves.
You can easely figure out witch ones work by choosing it and check if you can choose the hero when using dwarves.

You have to buy the expansion called Hammers of Fate. When you play the main campaigns, you will encounter the dwarves. You will even get to play them, although infrequently.

However, there's a custom game (within Hammers), called Iron Throne. It's you against 2 other (PC) players (single player version, not multi). All are the dwarves faction. It's a big map, so there's plenty of opportunity to build up the runes.

You can use a mod that fixes it until patch 2.1 is released..

Put this file in your expansion data folder and you will have access to all heroes even on old maps.

I have the Hammers of Fate expansion, I just can't seem to get to play as a dwarven hero unless it was a campaign.

@Sasha91 did you check the show multiplayer maps box in the custom game menu?
There are some maps that can be played with dwarves.
Ex: Iron Throne.
