Hey,

I recieved BiA at 8am this morning and I've played until around 4pm. I'm half way through the game but now I recieve the Null error when I run the game.

I didn't want to start another topic but I found it weird that it's run flawlessly all day and suddenly this happens. I have rebooted my machine a couple of times today and it still ran fine so it wasn't some first time fluke.

The error :

Build: (null)

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD Unknown processor @ 2466 MHz [1935885729792.000000 0] with 2047MB RAM
Video: No Video

Empty class for object None

History: UObject::StaticAllocateObject <- [NULL None) <- UObject::StaticConstructObject <- InitEngine

Doesn't seem to be picking up my hardware but I can't say I know why, or even if that's the case.

My specs :

XP Professional
AMD Athlon 64 FX-53
2048MB Ram
Nvidia GeForce Ti4200 128mb (only thing that still needs an upgrade lol http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif)

If you need any more info just let me know.

Latest drivers, direct x and all. I have tried the patch but I had no hope anyway as it's for MP. I havn't touched a thing since it last worked, I only quit to check my mail as I'm also getting the critical error reboot when I alt+tab / exit the game.

I want to try reinstalling the game, hopefully it'll run again and I don't mind reinstalling the game every day until a fix comes along, it only takes 5 minutes.

The only problem is I can't seem to locate the save files, could anyone point me to the files I need to backup as I don't want to lose my progress.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Hehe I noticed it's kinda long, ah well no worries the limited edition DVD should tide me over for a couple hours http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif (Great job btw on all the extra material, it's very interesting. I wish more games would go to such lengths).

Couldnt find the save file either. Try updating motherboardd rivers (if their not the newest ones).

Thanks for looking http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I had a look in the Default.ini file and under the Core Engine section it states it saves to ..\save as .gbxsav files. These files don't exist in the whole BiA folder so they're obviously embedded in a file somewhere http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I don't see the logic in this and I hope there's a way to transfer my save games over.

Yes my mb and everything is all up to date, I still don't understand how it ran fine for hours then suddenly started crashing.

Just thought I'd say I've found the save game files, although when I did uninstall there is an option not to delete them. Better safe than sorry though http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You can find them in C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Gearbox Software\Brothers In Arms\PROFILE NAME. Note that Application Data is a hidden folder so you must enable the viewing of them to gain access.

A reinstall did the trick although that's not to say it won't happen again. At least I now know reinstalling is a temporary fix http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
