Ok, i posted before about this performance issue i'm having, i had several responses, and the main one was to upgrade my RAM.
So i did.
The problem is, it still runs laggy, hardly ever over 30fps.

My specs:
AMD 64 3700+
2GB RAM
ATI Sapphire HD 3870 512 MB
Windows XP home edition

Things i've done:
Downgraded/updated my graphics card drivers.
Changed the DX sound support to basic.
Changed settings to low with 800x600 res.
Asked UBI support.
Upgraded my RAM.
Asked lots of people, there doesn't seem to be a reason.

your video card is kinda on the old an' weak side, dontcha think ? Try replacing it with a 880GTS. No laggy laggy with that card.

Hahaha... Oh, wow. My video card is about the same as a 8800 GTS, if not, better.

nah, come on mate, something a bit wrong there mate. check it out http://www.legionhardware.com/document.php?id=703&p=8

my advice mate, drop a 880GTS (640mb) in your system, you'll be allright then mate.

that advice is completely rubbish...

i guess the cpu might be a bit too weak

That was an 8800 GT not an 8800 GTS.
Also, the GTS 640MB is worse than the 320MB.
No way i'm updating my video card.

Yeah, the processor is the next thing on my list.

The processor IS the issue. To temporarily see the effects, try downloading CPU-Z and increasing your clock speed (top slider under PLL Control) 200 - 300 mhz. You should see a general improvement in performance.

HOWEVER, PLEASE NOTE: Overclocking can cause serious damage if not handled properly, and in many instances, voids your warranty on the product being overclocked. Make sure that you only play for a few minutes, then restart your computer so that the overclocking settings are defaulted back to normal clock speeds.

====

On the issue of video cards... Sure, upgrading your video card would be nice, but RAT's advice... I hate to say it, but it's rubbish from an economic standpoint. RAT's advice is solely based on progressive microeconomic American purchasing. Do your own research, find what's best for you, but make sure you do your research and not let someone else force it upon you.

What PSU size do you have? I just bought a club 3d overclocked HD4850 and would crash after a couple of minuets game play!!! after alot of head scraching decided my 450W Psu was not man enough to run it. Upgraded to 700w and works like a dream

I have a 550 watt PSU.
Isn't 200-300 MHz alot to just boost into?

An HD 3870 is the about same power as a new 8800gt/8900gt/gts and more powerful than a gts 640m. 8800gts 640 is old tech compared to any of those cards. My 9600gt outbenches it, and the 3870 edges it slightly. I sold my 640 to get two of these. You're right, that guy has no idea what he's talking about, probly just an nvidia fanboy.

The fact that you have a single core is what's holding you back. You can pick up a socket 939 dual core for $50 or less these days. Get an Opteron if you can find one.

Neil is right.

I have roughly the same system and it runs fine, except my processor is an AMD X2 4600+.

My specs:
AMD 64 X2 4600+
4GB RAM
Radeon HD 3850 256MB
Windows Vista Ultimate

It runs the same as it did when I had 2GB of RAM.

I quoted just about as far as some numb nut UBI stooge might get.

Bottom line is your system is fine. UBI ports from console to PC have been notoriously been incredibly poor and will continue to be so.

TAKE MY ADVICE AND DO NOT BUY ANY UBI PRODUCTS.

Thank you, i'll attempt to invest in a new processor.

Hi there,

Was wondering if you ever tried overclocking your processor prior to playing Vegas 2. Did you notice any difference in performance?

This game is the absolute worst for performance reasons, hey it would be good if it worked. Its just like a black man. nah im just kidding, but seriously though UBI I have been a life long fan sing rainbow six original and had all the games up until now. I hope for you sake you start making baby toys or fenders for cars cause you good at making junk.

I have a xfx 780i motherboard with 3 sli ports 8 gig ram qx9770 processor
intel quad core, PNY QuadroFX 5800 Workstation Video Card - 4GB GDDR3, PCI-Express 2.0, (2) Dual-link DVI, Display Port, 240 Cores

i have 4 monitors all hooked up as one. The reason i have this is because I make movies to be honest there pornos, lesbian and animals mostly horses and parapallegics. I make alot of money. I also like to make forust gump graffiti and the lion king.

UBI i am done, a life long fan down the drain, but hey you guys dont care. Let me ask you this who are you goingto be making games for ? everyone hates you like the plague and thats what you are infecting everyones computers.

I hope everyone in here will get the point and just leave and let this human waste of a company shrivel up and die like a homeless bumb on heroin. DIE UBISOFT DIE
