same happend to me, the program said DIRECT VOICE ERROR , eventough i used to talk fine the day before :/

when you hit voicechat it tell you to go to the config tool and set up your mic, thats where they are having problems.

make sure u check the box in the audio options for voice chat. thats what i forgot do. lol

Quandry: When i go into the solo or co op sound menu, voicechat is marked as unavailable, clicking on it tells me to use the configuration utility. Yet when i use the utility, i get the DirectPlay Voice setup error. Help please.

Somehow Mic conversation doesn't work when I'm hosting, seems only to work on servers of ppl without router or a DMZ server :S Perhaps someone knows what I have to open just for mic conversation, since everything else works fine, even with blocked ports (I know, its strange http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif)

Running Dxdiag and going through all of the tests (again) fixed the issue for me.

I had the same issue - I configured the microphone (USB Headset) with the Config Utility, but it said "unavailable" in the audio options and told me to use the config utility... So I was going around in circles.
I plugged in my other microphone, and it worked fine... I'd prefer to use my headset, but I guess the Verbatim microphone will suffice.

Anyways, steering the topic back on hand, when i try the config utility to set up my mic, i get DirectPlay Voice error. Ill try the dxdiag.
EDIT: I ran the dxdiag, ran all the tests, and i still get the DirectPlay Voice setup error, anyone else experiencing this??
