Ubisoft online game servers are currently down which affects both multiplayer titles and those that including our Online Services Platform. Our technicians are currently working hard to have things up and running as soon as possible.

In march you mentioned that customers suffering from this server problem would get compensation.
I really hope this includes me and other customers having trouble today - I am so sick of this server problem - its totally ridiculous!

there is someone up the chain of command with the common sense to realize that this problem is absurd and with the authority to get it fixed. please try to move it up the chain.
and i'm not talking about a power failure.
this non-working system must be changed.
this is a GREAT game that deserves better.

It was seemingly cleared up pretty quickly. By the time I saw this post this afternoon I was having no trouble connecting.
According to the German forums the servers were back online as of 20.04.2010 19:28. CET I guess? Not sure which time zone that is. heh

Yeah it's gonna be on your end. Probably firewall/port issue.
They released the sticky so now it's within the normal threads.

You are forgetting that people connect to different hubs like for example WoW has hub's in Amsterdam and Paris, someone might be able to connect and some might not if there is a fault in the line.
Dont disgard things if you don't have it, doesn't automaticly mean it does not exist.
rEDNiNE150
04-24-2010, 05:12 PM
I don't like your tone, Blackvenom01, it's a bit harsh tbh. I don't know whether it's because I've skimmed through thousands of Tech threads and never found a "fault in the line" to be an issue connecting to a gameserver, or because my career is nothing but networking, but your comment makes me itchy.
This isn't gonna be a fault in the "line".
Blackvenom01
04-25-2010, 01:12 AM
Not my intention to be hars rEDNiNE150, I was merely saying, that for some reason some people can connect, while others cannot.

And that's only because they don't know how to properly setup their firewall and/or their router. Zone alarm and Comodo are known to cause problems to the game. Additionally, many routers have a hardware firewall to stop unknown programs from accessing the internet. Even with the hardware firewall disabled, they still block most ports. People who have a problem, must open a port in their router and direct the game to use this port. Otherwise, it won't connect because it has no access to the internet! People can't connect because they can't READ before they complain and ask for someone to help them because they are too useless to help themselves

1. Buy SplinterCellConviction for 50$ because you got a job and hate the ***EDIT*** hassle craking a game gives you nowdays..
2. Sit down after a long days work
3. "Failed to connect to Ubisoft master servers"
And why do I pay for these ***EDIT*** problems when I can have them for free?
Don't publish ***EDIT*** online verification if you do not know what the ***EDIT*** you are doing!

To add to c4hlin's angry rant: are the servers in fact down today?
I can't play any of my Ubisoft PC games, and the command 'telnet 216.98.51.203 13000' returns a connection refused error. Everything was working fine for me this morning.

Dear Ubisoft,
Just confirming that your Silent Hunter 5 customers (remember us?? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif ) are having trouble connecting in order to play our single player game as well.
Most of us have already turned off the save game destroying "online saves" feature you've included so now might be a nice time to remove the DRM as well since there's nothing in OSP anymore we want/need. The only thing that could happen would be more sales if you did that. Trust me, no one's gonna pirate this game anymore. It's not like you're paying any attention to us anyway. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Actually the sync saved games features is useful to me because I play at work on my free time at noon and when I go back home on the evening I can continue playing on my own computer.
Anyway, just to say, yes servers are down.

Just to say, servers still down. :-( Anyone knows whet they will be up?? How long it usually takes to "get up" to these guys??
Cheers
PS: I don`t have much time playing(wife, baby) so when I do have time. like now, I`m very dissappointed that I can`t play because of some verification, I don`t store the saved games on the internet and playing skirmish, so why I need the connection - not fair!

Just hope your internet never hiccups, or your PC loses power, or your game client ever doesn't close properly.
You see, Ubisoft wrote their "game synch" the worst way possible. It simply overwrites what's on the client regardless of time stamp. So if your launcher doesn't properly close it doesn't upload your games to the server. Next time you log in you don't get the save game you had been saving every 5 minutes during your latest session. All that is blown away by whatever was on the server when you started the game session. You lost everything in between.
If that hasn't happened to you yet, it will. Turn that stuff off and use a flash drive to play the same game between home/work. That way you at least know it'll work.

Very true. Happened to me with AC2. Lost hours worth of progress due to a BSoD.
Now I quit and restart the game every hour or so to prevent it. Just sucks that it really ruins my immersion in the game.
Not to mention the bandwidth required by the gamelauncher. I tried downloading something and playing SSC at the same time. Had to quit the game since it was popping up messages every 2 seconds telling me the connection was lost.
And this is the future of SP games?
Could have fixed that easily by having the game only being interrupted after a set amount of seconds without connection to server.

The only absolute "fix" would be entirely removing OSP, since outages like this will continue to happen. If OSP didn't exist, and paying customers weren't treated like thieves, these outages would not be happening.

Once again the Ubisoft servers are down for ghost recon 2 as of lately they have gone down once a day everyday and today twice! its getting quite ridiculous. I left a thread or reply here once and mrs kleaneasy decided to remove it within 24 hours quite cute, just fix the problem and people like me wont have to worry about losing points due to ubisofts constant failure of hardware. Just trying to decide if this is the headache im gonna get with the new recon they keep pushing out further and further do i even want to buy it, anyone have any suggestions thanks

As if I dont have enough problems already because of SH5 being unplayable unless you mod it up to the max and Im not technically minded enough to understand how to install mods.... and now we have to put up with Ubi's servers being down too? I sure hope they do away with that stoopid DRM nonesense. I hate to feel like I am hostage to their servers and can only play when they are up and working. I guess that means that if Ubisoft has a power failure or someone trips over the power cords to their servers we cant play this unfinished game that we paid so much money for? This is total bull crap!

Hello xxxxx,
We have had a report that there is an issue with the servers at the moment. We don't have a timeframe for when it will be back online. We're working on getting it back up as fast as possible. Please try again later. If you still have the same issue by tomorrow, please get back to us.
Kind regards,

The problem is not with the customer and their firewall. If they have the system specs and an internet connection the game should play. The problem is with the DRM, the problem is with Ubisoft. And the fact that you insist on putting people down that are having to deal with these issues shows how useless you are.
And just so there's no confusion (on your part), here's a direct quote from the OSP FAQ:
"I am in a strict environment with lots of firewall rules etc. Can I still play the game?
If you can access the Internet from the computer, you can play the game."
Have a nice day.

It's now for two days that I can not start ANY of my newer ORIGINAL Ubisoft Games. The Game Launcher is making an endless chain of fast ging updates, so the percentage count is counting to 100% fastly and then starting again... and again...

The chat rooms have always been empty, never understood why but they have always been empty, it's not your fault.
As far as games go, do search for empire games or for custom ones? May I suggest searching for empire games, during night hours (european time). If you cnontinue having problems connecting, forward port 9103 UDP.

A lot of very angry people, including myself, are posting in the Assassin's Creed forums. Assassin's Creed 2 cannot even be started without the servers up (At least the actual game's 'story mode').

I registered a complaint but I doubt anything will be done. It doesn't seem like Ubisoft responds quickly to server down time.
I've never in my life heard of a single player game needing internet connection. That is just the stupidest things I've heard of.
I used to play World of Warcraft and at least if the servers were going to be down or were down, you were notified before you could log into the game and there was a reasonable amount of time they would give us to let us know when to come back and check to see if the servers were up.
Never ONCE were the servers down for 3 days. EVER. Maybe a whole day once in its life, but never 3 (and certainly not 3 days with little to no explanation or excuses including its our fault, our computer's fault or our isp's fault)
All I have to say is hurry up and fix the issue. Or at least apologize profusely (Which I've YET to see a apology!)

Just to point out that thread is not intended to replace you contacting support directly - so please do not post in there expecting that to count as contacting support - it's just a place where I or another Forum Manager can post any info we receive.
Everyone still needs to make sure to contact Support about the issue, so that they are aware of your complaint and concerns.
Support are aware of the Server issue affecting certain customers, but at present we don't have an ETA on when the servers will be back.
I'm sorry that I can't say when the server will be back online, however they are working on it.
If you wish to log a formal complaint either due to the downtime or your new purchase - please do so via support.

Yeah I am done with this crap too. I got this game because so many people were talking it up. I have played it less then 5 hours and if this is the kind service they provide for a single player game with a need to be on the internet, I might as well just go blow my money on an MMO.
I mean this full on web page is crap. Log in to post, log into Ubisoft's page, Go to support, Log in again to send an error report. Go up to talk to tech in fourm a, Oh wait its for game b, go down to game B and go to tech there. No now you need to send an error report with it so there is a ticket.
Tech s- is not even sending out letters or helping because it is Sat here and they only work on Mon-Friday. So I guess we are all just **** out of luck tell they come walking back into the office and notice the cleaning lady tripped on the power cord.

For what it's worth, I just purchased ACII on Friday. The first time I tried to play the game I couldn't connect. I had no idea why. I checked Anti-Virus and Firewall settings. Everything checked out fine. I eventually contacted Support and they told me that the servers were down and there was no good way to determine their status.
I understand a company's desire to prevent pirating, but I bought a game for single player mode not an online multiplayer ability. Let me repeat that, I BOUGHT the game. The fact is that I have been unable to play this game since I brought it home. I can honestly say that my original eagerness to play ACII has waned. If I hadn't already opened and installed/registered ACII, I would have gone back to the store and returned it.
After this disappointing start, I have a feeling that this will be the last Ubisoft title that I will purchase.

For what it is worth, this is the first time I've experienced actual server downtime that wasn't my own internet connection being messed up since I bought the game (ACII) in March.
From what I can tell, it's the second time it's happened overall, at least since the PC release for ACII, which I think is when all this DRM stuff came online? Maybe not. And only for around three or so days each time it happened. So I would hesitate to point fingers and blame Ubisoft as "OMG WORST COMPANY EVER" since 6 days out of 200 (~7 months since March, a rounded down factor* with a high-end number of days out probably (basically the following percentage is a worst case scenario)) is only 3% downtime.
*this number is counting from the beginning of March to the beginning of October, a 7 month estimate of the length of time Ubisoft's DRM servers have been online. The actual number of days is probably a bit higher, since this is solely taking into account the Assassin's Creed II release date (it's the only one I know) as the time the DRM servers first went online and it is well past the 1st of October. If you want a more accurate estimate, try 217** days.
**At the time of this posting, today is October 17th which is where I am pulling the 17 from.

Its not the fact that the server is down, these things happen, it is more the point that I had to go digging in the forums to find that out and that Mr. Slade, a UK rep, seems to be the only person working for the company. No other reps have said a single thing. No post from Ubisoft, nothing. I will NEVER buy a game from this company again...pathetic, rude, what a waste!

The issue reported by many earlier this week was resolved, anyone with ongoing issues should contact support so they can help you resolve the problem.
As this thread was initially intended for a specific period of downtime I'm going to lock it, this will help prevent any new reports being lost among an old thread.
If you need to report new issues post in your game appropriate forum http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
