Grass looks balck in Patches

Hi there,
I just got myself a copy of FarCry ..the grass looks black in some places ..especially where there is guy standing...

I have the latest nvidia 66.93 drivers installed on a 6800 (non ultra) card.

I have softmodded the 6800 to 16 pipes.. which I tried disabling but that does not help. btw I have played doom3 and hl2 on this modded card without any hitches !

I d/led the 1.3 patch but it refuses to go beyond the choose folder point.

what cud be wrong ..

(1st post...finally found a screen name that was available...can't believe somebody already took "Okoboji".)

Anyway...I also just installed FarCry a few days ago and had the same black areas on the ground. (I have a 6800GT).

To solve the problem I downloaded the version 1.1 patch for FarCry and that solved the problem. As you know,There is also a ver. 1.3 patch available that should also fix it but the 1.3 is a lot bigger download and I only have dial-up at home. Try the 1.3 from a different source, maybe, if you can't get the download to work.
