I was going to post my opinion in one of the other threads but it turned out a bit longer and more controversial than I thought it was going to be. So, I made my own thread and as poll as well. Even though we don't know much about the game yet, it wouldn't hurt Ubisoft to hear our opinions already.
In my opinion, I hope they follow Crytek and EA's lead, develop it for PC and save all the console work for later.
Imagine how crummy Crysis could look and be if they were simultaneously trying to create and optimize the game for an Xbox 360 or even Wii, only limited to one disc. Sorry Ubisoft, but despite the meh story line and voice acting, Far Cry for PC was a lot better in a lot of aspects. Take a look at Epic Games right now. They're currently only developing Unreal Tournament 3 for only PC and now just PS3 & PC. Don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly a PS3 fanboy but this was a wise decision in my opinion. Bluray is the only way that UT3 is going to fit on a console and unaltered. (The main purpose of the third poll option) Epic has a large PC FPS fanbase from the Unreal franchise from almost a decade now. Despite all the success from Gears of War they're not entirely letting greed get the best of them and they know not to screw up their PC version of UT3 with a console port. Hell, they will probably get more sales this way anyways.
Cavet Yerli constantly mentions in interviews that the goal of Crysis is to create one of the greatest First Person Shooters ever, even it means making not quite as much money by expanding it to many platforms. He believes the only way to do that is through the initial title being a PC exclusive. "More than casual gamers" around the world rejoiced with this approach and has been earning them massive amounts of fans and in return will probably make truckloads of money in return regardless. I'm not saying Ubisoft should set their standard this high, but it's obvious they have a choice if they want to take a bit of a risk and move towards consoles, almost just for the marketing and money (Kind of like Wii sports, fun for a month unless you get drunk each time) or if they want to build a truly great game that will last. My point is, I have Far Cry for PC and all of the Xbox titles and I haven't popped any of the Xbox ones in for ages while I STILL play Far Cry single player for PC now and then. On the PC, you can almost feel how the game has been in development for years, especially the first few levels. This not quite the kind of feel I received when playing through the console titles obviously.

Actually, you're wrong - Unreal Tournament 3 is coming to 360 also.
UT3 to 360 (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/758/758367p1.html)

Yes, much much later.
Gamespot Interview (http://www.gamespot.com/video/928117/6174965/unreal-tournament-3-video-feature-2008)
The article is old, they confirmed at E3 that it is a PS3 and PC exclusive for now. The 360 version could be coming as late as year later.

Kinda a strange question as people will vote for the platform they play on, not whats its best suited to, but even then its based upon opinion. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif
TBH, I dont care if its on the PC (preferably) and also consoles. I done my arguements "Amiga games are better than Atari ST" years ago and learned that it doesnt matter what we think, its financial decision as to what platform its written for.
The main thing is thats its a good quality game that is profitable for the developer and publisher. From a purchasing point of view, obviously I would like to see the quality.

Sorry, but Blueray is not needed to run a game. A regular DVD will hold 4.7GB of uncompressed data. That's enough for any game made this year and probably for the next 5-10 years. Even though games are getting larger, compression technology is improving. This is why MS said the HDD drive is not needed to run games.

Builds of uncompressed Unreal Tournament 3 are currently roughly around 20 gigs, and they're planning only on cutting it down mainly by texture compression and cutting back on what levels to include, simply because that's ridiculous even for PC users. Gears of War for PC doesn't have new levels just because they want to give PC players something new to play either. GRAW is much larger on PC... Look at Project Gotham Racing 2 and 3. Second had many more cars and tracks, which was not possible in the third with all the detail. This is not a problem they're going to have with the nextgen transition of Gran Turismo. Bluray and the cell shine on games like Resistance where even the multiplayer levels are just stuffed with meshes and it looks like they almost did it for fun and just because they can.

UT3 is 20 gigs uncompressed? Not that bad... it's like UT 2004 with like 5 cd's but instead of 5 cd's... 5 dvd's! yay!

+1
QFT!
I voted PC only, but to my mind the missing option was finish PC development, showcasing what UBI Montreal can do, then port it to where the money is...

I voted for all systems, but have NO PROBLEM with it being PC first, and then porting it over to the 360 (or PS3) later. Any way you cut it, it's just nice to see it be "official" that a new version is in development! (now, hope that Ubi learned well from all of its lessons from FCI and FCIP!) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Sorry, I listed the wrong size for Xbox games. They use the DVD9 dual layer/single sided disc with the capacity of 8.5 GB. Enough for any game this generation. See this article for why.

Yes, UT3 for PC will be larger than the console versions. PC games have to have extra coding to be installed on machines that have a wide variety of hardware configurations. Plus installation tools to load it on a PC hard drive. And how much room does that Mod program that won't be on the console versions take up?

My vote goes for all systems, why do such debates always develop what is wrong with everyone having a chance to play such a great game!
And this whole won't fit on console disk issue who cares if they had to use 20 discs to fit the game on, have people got to lazy to insert another disk!

PC gaming kicks ***. I remember when I had unreal tournament in like 2001, I had like 50k mods and used up 5 gb of my hard drive... Then comes UT 2003 and I used about 10 gb of my hard drive. Imagine UT 3 mods.

it does determine that, just look at the first dues ex made for pc then later ported to the consoles, when they had enough juice to run it. A phenominal 9.5 rated game. Then look at Dues ex 2: invisible war, created simultaneously for the pc and consoles, but each one is equal, the pc didn't get a special version, it got the same dumbed down **** that the xbox did, which meant very tiny levels, due to consoles lack of resources, low res textures, and simplistic gameplay. The first game had many stats, it had rpg elements, and body parts that would get wounded; say you get shot in the leg you start to limp and walk slow, or the arm and your aim is off. etc.. you coul swim upgrade weapons, dif weapon categories, skills in weapons etc... plus the different plot lines and enimeis dx1 was amazing! The sequal had like 4 guns, small cooridor levels, with no skills and it was linear unlike the first one. It ruined the franchise!
look at how oblivion is dumbed down in gameplay and depth from morrowind, same thing (although the graphics and some gameplay improoved massive amounts of items skills and lore were cut!)
Look at how GRAW is on the pc compared to the xbox, this is a special case, and I commend ubisoft on this, as they got a seperate team to make the game a pc exclusive, and it shows, the result is a fine tactical shooter for the pc, and an arcadish game for the console kiddies.
As long as the pc gets a special version or the frist version its fine, the dumbing down starts when the console game gets created first and a port is made to the pc...not a wise move.

well if they take their time and work hard on the PC version and then move onto next gen consoles its worth the wait...

I know this is late and I should have made it clear in the first post just above the poll, but keep in mind the poll is about what you want to see Far Cry 2 developed on, NOT the ONLY thing you want to see it on.

Then what's the purpose of this, it's under development for only the PC right now! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif
