Hi,
I got BiA and I love the game.
But when I load a new mission my computer sometimes restarts. It happened 3 times already, and not with the same mission. What is the problem?
AMD2800+
A7N8X-X

ATI 9600 PRO
Please help me so I can play BiA without the stupid restart http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Try this....but be very careful.
right click on "my computer"
go to "properties"
click on the "advanced" tab
under the title "start and recovery" click on "settings"
under "system start up" click "edit"
a notepad with text should appear
it should say something like this:
[boot loader]
timeout=0
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)part ition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1) \WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /noexecute=OptIn
Change the "/noexecute=Optin" switch to "/execute=Optin"
Just delete "No" then save as...and over write the file. Turn off your computer and reboot. Try to run the game...if it doesnt fix it...go back and add the "no".
Warning: If your not careful this could completely Hose your windows install...leaving you no option other than to format and reinstall the OS. I am not responsible for you hosing your system.

When I started windows I got a lot of Windows errors and failures, I don't think thats how it should be is it? If those errors dont make a difference I can try it again.

try runnign the game in OpenGL instead of D3d.

You can't run OpenGL, because the game requires DirectX9.0c shaders. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You have to update your video drivers. If you are still using catalys 4xxx they are too old. It that doesn't fix the problem then try motherboard chipset drivers and audio drivers.
Also close out unecessary programs before starting the game
If you are running Windows XP, you can close background tasks by doing the following:
Hold the Ctrl and Alt keys down at the same time and hit the Delete key once. This will bring up the "Task Manager", when that is open do the following.
Click the "Processes" tab.
Click in the "User Name" box right next to where it says "Image Name", this will file all the processes together by user name.
Highlight each process running under your user name one by one and choose "End Process" EXCEPT "Taskmgr.exe" and "Explorer.exe" DO NOT select any processes running under SYSTEM, LOCAL SERVICE, or NETWORK SERVICE to close.
Continue closing processes under your user name until only "Taskmgr.exe" and "Explorer.exe" remain.
If you are using Windows 2000, close background programs by doing the following:
Hold down the Ctrl and Alt keys, and hit the Delete key once.
Select Task Manager.
Click the Applications tab.
Click on the name of each application in the list and click on End Task.
Repeat this process until all the background task are closed.
If the trouble still persists, click the "Processes" tab and then go to the website below and browse the list of processes that are run by default in win2k, you can close any process you find in your list that is NOT on the list given at the web site.
Go to the following for the list of default processes that run in win2k -> http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q263201

In my experience as a pc builder and troubleshooter I have found restarts like this to be caused many times by incorrect settings in the bios or memory problems or a combo of both. Example mixed memory pc 2100 and pc 3200. A bad memory dimmset or voltages set wrong. The restarts may not occur until the system is really working hard. That is why some games run without a hiccup and BIA burps like crazy.
