I believe uPlay rendered my Assassin's Creed 2 useless!! Please Help!!

I have Assassin's Creed 2 for the PS3.

Here's what happened:
I played about half of the game and then redeemed my uPlay points for the Altair costume and the Auditore family crypt, no problem.

Yesterday I beat the game and got back into the animus. I then collected the rest of the glyphs and 30 of the feathers, no glitches AT ALL up to this point.

That's when I decided to go redeem the rest of my points for the Assassin's Creed theme and the extra knives. After unlocking said items, I exited the game to apply the theme, I checked it out, then went back to play the game.

That's when it happened.
I can no longer get past the screen that says
"This game has been made by people of multiple religious beliefs" Thank you uPlay...not really.

This started on 11/20/09 and still doesn't work. It is not the disk because I was able to return it for a new one, and I reinstalled it as well.

I am very f****ing p****d off about this and I believe uPlay needs to fix this problem. If anybody else experiences this or knows how to solve this problem please....please post.

The same thing happened to my friend when he tried to get the theme and it cant get past that screen. which made me angry because i was actually starting to like the game http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

Did you try deleting the game from system memory.you have to start from the beginning but at least you can play.

wow. i am now totally leery of unlocking anything until the beta passes and the real thing is live.

is this a PS3 only issue,any known instances of this for the '360?

I have a similar problem but not as severe. I was accessing Uplay just fine (many times) until I downloaded the theme. Now I get a Uplay error every time and can't redeem anything further. Luckily I wasn't far into the game so I tried deleting all save/game data and that didn't help. I don't know what part of th hdd Uplay uses, but something seems to be going on there.
I hope I don't start have problems with the game loading up because of this...

First of all I just wanted to thank every body for their responses. It's helping me out a lot and now that I've cooled down I just want to help solve this problem so it stops ruining other people's experience with this amazing game.

I just wanted everybody to know that I have tried deleting all evidence of the game from my PS3 (after backing up my entire system of course). It does not work! Spare your progress in the game and do not delete your data! I uninstalled, I deleted both profile and game save data in the game save folder, and I have reformatted my PS3. It does not work!! It must have something to do with the uPlay account data which is stored online and not on the system.

I will be submitting a question in the support forum....as soon as it lets me access it. It asks me to log-in even if I already am and when i do it says
"The site encountered an unexpected error. Please try again later or contact us if the problem persists."
Also, in order for me to call and contact them I must be living in the U.K....which I am not.

I play on the PS3 and I redeemed the theme and although this doesn't help you, I just wanted to say that it is case specific as I have never experienced any problems after purchasing and installing the theme. Maybe I am just lucky? I just want to get into the danged crypt and don't have the points to do so. Will the door be opened naturally through gameplay at some point. AGhhh!!!!

The door never opens unless you get it from uplay, also it'll never re-open so make your first trip count.

It seems to me that this error is happening when you try to get the theme not the knives, costume or crypt. so here's my plan.... don't get the theme, duh. I mean it doesn't improve your game play experience or any thing it just makes dashboard or whatever look good. p.s does anything g like t6his happen for the 360 just so I know before I get AC2

The only reason that I got it was because I had the points for it and it was the last thing I needed to unlock, I also didn't think that it was possible for dlc to render a game useless.

Thank you for posting. I am now in sequence 10 and considering UPlay. After reading your post, I think I will refrain. I enjoy the game very much and certainly do not need a frustration. Thank you. I hope you get the support you need.

Thank you, I'm glad that this is helping people out and I'm sure that ubi will release a patch to fix it eventually. They came out with a patch but it was to fix mostly minor glitches.
I actually ended up swapping my copy of the game for a 360 copy, I'm good friends with the people at my local EB games so I'm not sure if they would do the same for everybody at every eb/gamestop, but if you're friendly and polite I don't see why they wouldn't.

mine worked alright except for the theme. it said that a error occured so i went on it again and now it says to download again go to downloads in ps3 menu but i dnt knw wat that is some1 pls help

im not sure if its maybe a model issue or not. I have one of the first versions of ps3 60gig, and i hve all rewards from ac2 including theme and my game still runs fine.

U could actualy replay through secondary memories, but u cannot replay sequence memories. To replay a secondary memory, go to DNA, go to the memory you want to replay. Let's say we want to replay family crypt. Select DNA on the pause menu, then scroll to Secret Locations, select it, scroll to family crypt, and selct that. u will be asked if u want to replay, if u do, the select yes, if not, selct no.
