What kind of bonus content would make you buy the expanded and improved: "Assassin's Creed: Director's Cut?"

Yeah, Desmond actually DOES SOMETHING USEFUL in this version http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
It also features more blood and a lot of nudity.

Oh, and bananas. They figured out every game needs bananas http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

there isn't anymore gameplay (at least that is what i have seen/heard), just extra "accessories" like the figurine, a small concept art book, and a bonus "extras" CD that has like trailers, developer diaries and such on it.

Square-Enix does it all the time, and it's really frustrating because the versions we get are NEVER those expanded, super-cool versions. When RE4 made the jump to the PS2 it brought extra content like the Play As Ada missions with it, and likewise, the release of DMC3: Special Edition with extra cutscenes, boss fights, a reduced price tag, a more forgiving Difficulty curve and another playable character saw me forking over for another version of a game I already had.

The right kind of extras WILL make you buy the same thing twice. Peter Jackson knows this, as does capcom, so what sort of things would make you buy Assassin's Creed again?

That's the Collector's Edition. What I'm talking about would be an expanded version of the game itself. Like when the "Director's Cut" of a Peter Jackson movie is released with tons of additional scenes and some really cool bonus features.

I myself would buy it for

*unlockable costumes for Altair. <STRIKE>Preferably a shirtless one.</STRIKE>

* A bonus level or extra assassination.

* A level-select feature that lets you decide which part of which mission to jump to.

* An extra playable character. Preferably more then one.

*A foreshadowing vid A La "Deep Dive" to get us even more reved up about the sequel.

I would say more weapons and maybe a new side mission, where Altair kills someone important to him personally. Like maybe the killer of his mother of father.. that would have been awesome.

And also http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/agreepost.gif

More costumes plz. I'm really getting tired of the white robes http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

Maybe. I'm kinda sick of every anime character having to avenge or fight some relative or other. In fact, the Penny Arcade comic included in the Special edition implies that Al Mualim might be Altair's biological father.

In what sense? I don't see any level-buffing, weapon's upgrades, dungeon crawling, or... anything for that matter.

That's what my dad said too, but I really think that when the bad guy said, "For I think I see his face in yours" he just meant that Altair had been brainwashed by Al Mualim's teachings to the point that he was almost an Al Mualim clone.

<<<Spoilers, of course>>>

I really would like to see a personal assassination in any "Director's Cut". We've got nine impersonal ones and one semi-personal one. To just see a side mission in which ALtair hunts down and kills someone important to him would be fulfilling. I'd really like this game to make me cry, because I love that feeling.

Also, more side missions would be nice. I really didn't mind them as much as other people did, but an enourmous amount of variety would add a lot to this game.

Agreed about the variety. I didn't mind them either, they were excuses to explore the city and I had lots of fun scaling towers (Leap o' Faith, WOOOHOOOHOO!!) and saving citizens (da-NAAAA BATMAN!) but at the same time still MORE stuff would have been fun. I'm not sure what kind of stuff it would be (maybe to intercept supply trains or find lost kids) but it'd be cool.

I had this crazy idea that Animals might be fun inclusions in the gameplay. Dogs can bark at you, alerting people to your position. Cats show you new paths up buildings and you can follow them to find secret entrences. Rats will lead you to hiding places. You can smack horses tied to karts to send them charging into walls, creating a barricade against whoever's following you. Even MORE living city mechanics!

Was indeed me. I'm kinda a trumpet tooter on some things.

It's probably not happening, but who knows: the developers are still on vacation and the game seems to be raking in piles of cash. I think they'll wait a bit to see what we, the fans, want.

Honestly?

I'd trust the audience a little more, and remove the sci-fi plot altogether. I think the medieval assassin premise stands well on its own, and perhaps if more time had been devoted to it - and none to the sci-fi subplot - some of the repetitive elements would have had a chance to be ironed out (As great as Kristen Bell was, I don't imagine she came cheap, and some of that money could've gone into some more development for investigation missions). Also, I'd have gone for a more authentic sound - Altair's voice actor was great, but a thick arabic accent would have been a welcome change in a video game hero. Perhaps even use the same voice actor, but just use the accent.

Also... some more indoor areas would be great. But now I'm just fantasizing.

Kristen Bell was indeed great, she's incredibly talented and proved in this game that she doesn't need her face onscreen to convey emotion, which is a rarer trait amoung screen actors then one would think: for example, I am a fan of Matt Damon's, he's a very talented actor, however you need look no further then his horrible, wooden line reading in "Spirit, Stallion of the Cimeron" to see that he can't do voice work. And I can't see Keanu Reeves getting any work if the guy hadn't been born with that long, fierce-looking face and those dark features that pop out on camera.

I can only assume that, given the care and thought that went into all OTHER aspects of the game, they had a reason for letting Shahbaz perform his part with an american accent. Given all of the token-arabic roles he's had, I can only assume he can fake an accent at least decently enough for television, so that Altair has only a ghost of one (easily disguised by the proper diction, which is rare in american mouths) must have been a deliberate choice.

Maybe it's like the english version of the anime "Hellsing." Hellsing takes place in england, so the producer and director went out of their way to hire authentic London English accents. However, the main character, Alucard the vampire, is performed with an American accent. This is not because the actor, Crispin Freeman, couldn't do an english accent, he could, but somehow performing Alucard as English just Didn't Work. So then they tried giving Alucard a Transelvanian accent, and that one ALMOST worked but not quite. So they instead tried letting Freeman perform the role with his native American accent, and to everyone's suprise, that one worked. It was allowed to stand in part because Freeman's performance was so strong, but also because it helped set Alucard apart from the other cast members: it established that he was from Somewhere Else and at the same time gave us no clue where that could be. He obviously ISN'T American, so the accent has to be assumed, thus we don't even get the sound of his real voice as a clue as to where he really came from.

Maybe they wanted to just make sure Altair Sounded Different: give some sort of audio cue that set him apart from his fellows and kept us in the Animus's auto-translating head-space.
Or, maybe his voice is supposed to cast some doubt as to where Altair really comes from. That he sounds American isn't important as such, maybe it's just important that he DOESN'T sound like a native of Mussef. His name means Son of None, which is exactly the kind of name you'd give a young foundling with no family who can't tell you about himself because he doesn't speak your language, and while he's clearly picked up the language perfectly maybe his alien accent remains as a keepsake for his atypical origins.

Just some ideas.

And I agree about trusting our intelligence more. However unlike films, which need to consciously bring attention to themselves to make us remember we're watching a movie, games seem to take that we know how to work it's rules for granted.
