So I decide to brave another Ubi product after GRAW and RB6 Lockdown were enormous let downs.
Bought RB66 Vegas and installed onto my fully loaded Dell XPS system bought 6 weeks ago. The game installed fine. The patch downloaded and installed fine.
The game will not progress past the loading screen. It sat there for almost 2 hours while Ill hit the gym. Rebooted. Same thing.
Rock on Ubi.

Try changing the game icons default exe (R6Vegas_Launcher.exe)to the vegas exe (R6Vegas_Game.exe)

What is your video card? It sounds like you don't have a sm3.0 compatible video card.
Make sure your card is one of the ones on the supported list.

Try reinstalling it and changing the executable to _game.exe Then manually installing the patch (1.02)<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Whisky9xRay:
You probably have a non-Shader Model 3.0 card and this is preventing you from getting past the loading screen.
THIS THREAD (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/3801065024/m/9741071415) covers the basic system requirements to run Rainbow Six: Vegas. You can also use the PC Gamelabs performance analyzer to scan your system and tell you what part(s) might need replacing/upgrading in order to run the game.

Hey KungFu, any chance of a link to PC Gamelabs? I googled it but found nothing relevant.

Yeah whiskey9xray it sounds like your comp doesnt have a "Shader Model 3.0" video card and because of that you can't run the game.
If thats the case then it's not Ubi's fault, it's yours and you owe an appology. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Could also be his firewall is blocking him. The game immediately contacts the internet.

I had this exact same problem! I updated my video card to one that supported the Shader 3.0, as mine only supported Shader 2.0, and everything is running nicely.
I do wish they could have given a message stating what the problem was however.

Also, I apologize for the confusion. It is System Requirements Labs.

Well I ran the Requirements Labs test and it said I failed on CPU speed, which I expected as mine is 2.08 GHz Performance Rated at 2.80 GHz. However, I can actually run the game. Granted everything is turned down, 800*600, HDR is on, low to medium settings and I'm getting 20 -24 fps, down to 16-18 occasionally in firefights. It doesn't look great but it's playable. It'll do until DX10 cards are out, and pc component prices drop a little.
