Am running XP Pro
with GeForce4 MX 420
ran several test via DirX (9.0c) and all ran sucessfully.

Checked drivers in Device Manager and everythings up to date

The game starts and all's fine, except when Yeesha starts to talk the first time, she stops after about 1 sentence, and dissapears. And my little avitar is left stading there looking lost and bewilderd. (What was that???) I can move around aftwards fine it's just this one spot in the game. And I can't do the next hand signal becaue I have not heard all of Yeesh'a speech (I;m sure that's what triggers it)

The game also diables my McAfee anti-virus software.

I've played Myst Exile and Riven, and Revelations fine, even Myst (in compatibility mode) and they're ok.

Any ideas?

Are the Symbols on the imager that you press to make Yeesha apear in the currect sequence as the one on the wall next to the door? That sounds like the only problem to me why she stops talking.
As for Any anti-virus program you should turn it off b4 you start anygame.
If you are hesitant of disabling the anti-virus protection then just disconnect the fone line from the back of your computer, since that is the main way viruses get sent anyhow.

If you ask me anti-virus makes your machine run slow and doesn't help anyhow.
I have used Mcafee and Norton and both failed and in my opinion are junk.

the best way to not get a virus is not to open email if you don't know who it is from and don't go on certain sites (a.k.a. porn, spammers or ones with lots of pop-ups).

Here are some sites to help you out with Spyware,Pop-ups and Firewalls.
Get FireFox (http://www.mozilla.com)
Get Ad-Ware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/)
Get ZoneAlarm (http://www.zonealarm.com)

But if you are really paraniod of getting anything hacked or fried by Virii then get a Mac for use on the internet.
I use my mac to search the net and my PC to play games on.
As soon as you plug that cord in to connect to the net you instantly run the risk of DownLoading all kinds of baddys.

Suggestions:

1. Do all of the steps you can in the 'Overall Windows and Hard Disk Tune-up With Win XP' section of Uru: Clean Boot Install/Re-install With Win XP (http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/groupee/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=524109302&m=356106565).

2. For a GeForce 4 MX420 video chipset with Uru, don't use the latest NVIDIA driver (version 66.93). What you want is version 52.16, or version 45.23 if necessary, both available here (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_archive.html). See Uru: Installing Video Drivers With Win XP (http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/groupee/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=524109302&m=539102665) for installation instructions.

If the above don't help, post a DxDiag report and we'll take a look at your system. See Posting Guidelines and URU minimal requirements (YOU MUST READ before posting) (http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/groupee/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=524109302&m=937105842) for a how-to.

And if you haven't been doing \sav backups, see Uru: Saving Game Progress (http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/groupee/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=524109302&m=261104565).

Why, yes they are.

Maybe.

I didn't, but thanks for sharing.

You should stick to freeware. I'm not going to risk $2500.00 worth of business equiptment for a $15.00 game. The Insurance people wouldn't, you know, understand.

been there done that. No change.

Better. The CS folks at Ubisoft had be dashing over to Nvidia to get the 66.93 which ran like **** and failed all tests. Will try the alternate drivers you suggest. Oh, yes, I sent my Sys info and DXdiag .txt file and their suggestion was the 66.93. Like monkeys at a typewriter.

I have done any backups becauyse I haven't gotten far enough into the game to make saving it worthwhile.

UPdate: got the 52.16 drivers installed and they passed all the tests (the little white sqaure was bouncing A LOT faster (little box on speed -- ha, ha) Will run the game and see if Yeesha can finish speaking. Will let you know...

everythings okay. Got along, linked to Relto, gathered up all the linking books, etc, etc, linked to Teledon and got the power on, now I'm just stuck trying to do the bucket ride. Wouldn't it be easier just to jump off the railing and hang onto one of those puppies - http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Hmmm. Not an option.
Grrrr.
will go at it tomorrow.

Thanks.

Just a small currection:

Windows XP/2000
Version: 56.72
Release Date: April 1, 2004

Is the newest yet older driver you can use for Uru.
Anything past\newer then that Version will make the Graphix mess up and look like there is snow everywhere.
This is one Driver version i use and the game plays great.

Kweaper, there's a reason for Heimdall's recommendation of 52.16. Windows Update in XP will revert 53.04 and 56.72 to 52.16. I think it's something to do with the WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Labs) certification of the drivers.

will check out driver 56.72

Oh, and appolgies to Kweaper. Seems I DID have the wrong sequence of icons before Yeesha could speak. I didn't notice the 1st time I could click on them and change them.

P.S. Buy some decent antivirus software. Someday you'll thank me. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Meh...
I use that driver and everything works totally fine for me.
Let the person deside, it might work for them too.

Lol, not to luagh out loud or seem rude by doing so but i used "Brand Name" Virii,SPy,and any other kind of warez there are.
Simple fact is that i think they are all **** and to this day i don't use any and haven't gotten any of the above mentioned done to my computer.
I am just a paranoid person that keeps his eye on what i download, who i talk to, and what sites i go on...

"Paranoid people are the safe ones, it's people that think they are safe that are really in danger."

Why Buy when you Can Hack or Construct your own?
Not to mention that half those things are made by M$ and have spyware already in them..

Microsoft is not really a compony that i trust when their products are so easily hackable, not to mention them loosing half their source code to the windows operating system becuase someone hacked their frame and downloaded a good portion of it from their lab.

Sorry for getting a little off topic here, MoDz.
