Lock On lock ups in the options menu

In a final version everytime I open options menu, game lock ups, I cant go back to windows, ctrl+alt+del doesn't work, I have to shut down comp. Tried few things:
firewall shutdown, lowering and no sound acceleration, updating my video card (9600pro) to latest 3.9 drivers and going back to 3.7 (supposedly more stable), lowering video to lowest and recommended settings, running in win98/me mode, unplugging ms sidewinder ff2 (thought its causing conflict)
I already rebooted my comp like 18 times, trying different things. Funny thing is I can fly with default options set by program, but thats sensless flying using keyboard, etc.
Maybe somebody can help me.
My system spec:
Win XP, amd xp2400, 768mb ram,
ati 9600pro 128ram, sb pci512

are you running a firewall? Either give the .exe access to the net for multi, or turn off your firewall when you play. Zonealarm has major difficulty with some games.

As I stated before, shuting down firewall was 1 of my first options, didnt change anything, still same thing it locks up only when I enter options menu.

I also have a 9600PRo, this seems to be a problem with this card only. i had the same problems with the demo. I read in the forums somewhere that if you enable fastwrites in the bios, it works ok! LOMAC then works, but have the odd BSOD when playing other games. I changed all the settings i needed to in LOMAC, then turned fastwrites back off. not perfect, but hopefully keep you going till a fix....

Same problem - using a 9600XT

When I go to the Options screen it's just a matter of time - sometimes its 5 seconds, other times its 20 seconds. Computer just locks up.

Unistalled and re-installed video drivers to no avail.

Also having a problem when I leave a flight "hit OK" and it locks up.

I can't turn on Fast Writes so the workaround doesn't work for me.

Thanks for feedback guys, I would love to try fast write option on, but I don't have it in bios and fastwrite in ati settings windows doesn't stay on after rebooting. Lock ups continue...

Ok, same thing here with Radeon 9600pro and catalyst 3.9... But I've a i815e intel motherboard and i'm unable to activate AGP fastwrite:-(

Please a patch for it !!

GOT A FIX /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif (at least for me)

In ati display settings advanced troubleshoot section I lowered hardware acceleration just 1 in a scale (disable cursor acceleration...) Cursor is blinking now but not a single lockup anywhere in the game.
Its possible fix for other lockups too, I have to go back to full acceleration for other games tho ( not a problem, doesnt require rebooting)

Yeah, nice one. a lot easier than enabling Fastwrites everytime i want to play LOMAC. LOL, hopefully a fix is being worked on.........

Hi guys, i wish i could say this fix worked for me, but it didnt :-( now for some reason i cant even make it to the first menu, it just gives me an illegal operation error and boots me back to windows, im trying to uninstall and reinstall the game now just on the off chcance that will help..


Im running windows 98, were the 2 people who reported this fix working on xp or win98?

enable fast writes in bios and change apature size to 128 mb i had same problem mouse hangs after u move it 2 inches in the menu

OMG THAT WORKS FOR ME TOO!! (disable cursor acceleration).
Since weeks i'm trying to find what is wrong. I can now play the demo!! Thanks a lot..

Though I consider this as a bug that should be fixed in a patch.
