so spend a few bucks on a new drive. it can only benefit you in the end anyway if ur a pc gamer...

DVD drives are like 20 dollars now. Just buy one, stick it in the place where youre supposed to put disk drives, and plug it in. You could probably buy it and have it installed within 30 minutes your first time.

Yeah, DVD drives are getting cheaper now. So get the drive and get it installed! Stop complaining willya!

I cant believe a serious gamer would not have a DVD drive. Go suck up to your parents saying "it is for school work http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif " Thats my excuse for everything PC related http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

20 bucks. Twenty freakin bucks. You would not believe how many people complain when games are released on DVD, they dont have a DVD drive. Well for ****s sake, you had enough money to buy not only the game, the computer, the power for the computer, but the **** gas to drive all the way out to EB games. Buy a freakin DVD rom drive so you can stop *****ing at developers wanting to reduce costs.

Finally, i hoped that schttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gift gets on a DvD, but it just got far too late. Its alot more confortable to have 1 DVD instead of 12 Cd's (12*700MB=8400MB~ 9GB = Size of one doublelayer DvD).

I like that 'school work' excuse, i used a similar excuse in "it's for uni and will make other applications run better" when saying i wanted to increase my PC's RAM! Now that i have graduated from uni, i wonder what excuse i will use to get a better graphics card...

If you've graduated from a university, you're supposed to be an adult. You don't NEED an excuse, just go buy one. It's your money, you can do what you want with it.

My first DVD drive was $40 and that was about 2 years ago. A year ago I bought a DVDRW drive, and it was around $150. You can get the same DVDRW drive that I have now for around $60 and the same DVD drive I used to have for about $15 or so. DVDs are the revolution, and games that come on 5 cds are just plain annoying (Far Cry, Matrix, WoW, etc). DVDs are the standard in Europe, and they are now about to be the standard in North America, and all I've got to say is "It's about freaking time!"

Never heard of that...

I am 100% with you man. I love how people will find any reason to complain on the forums (I.E. L.E. is on DVD). A dvd drive is 20 bucks. Big deal. Besides, if all the extra content with the game came on cd's, you would have like 10 cd's. Buy a dvd drive, and stop complaining on these forums.

I agree with Ninj3r. Relax man, to be honest. Yelling and all that DOESN'T get your point across better unless you are saying things like "I'm gonna kill you!" and even so...I'd be more scared of someone saying it calmly than all worked up. (...the quiets ones are the ones you gotta watch out for...lol)

Dude, I work at Officemax right now for Part-Time, just in is a Double Disc burning DvDRom burner...was once on sale for 59.99...now is on clearance for 39.00. and that a DOUBLE DISC BURNER. just think of a regular ROM! I understand your frustration. and I know the feeling (was gonna get it for PS2...just bought Xbox off Ebay FOR THIS GAME! HAHA) but don't get to sad friend. everything will work out in the end.

Ah well, what's another 20 or 30 bucks to play Chaos Theory. I'm guessing installation of a new drive involves physically placing it in the case, connecting it to the motherboard (with those big flat wires) and setting it up in the control panel after booting up. Is there much else? Will I have to install any drivers? Should I have any compatibility issues on a pretty standard Gateway machine from 2 or 3 years ago?

Jae187
03-07-2005, 02:35 PM
It will purely depend upon the Technical things of your computer. Graphics, (...), speed (...), ,memory (...), and of course...uuh I forgot

I have a computer capable of reading data off of a DVD drive, I should think (after all, it runs the CT demo reasonably well)... I'm just wondering about the installation process.

Jae187
03-07-2005, 02:42 PM
Oh...well other than physical installation. A lot of times your computer can detect new hardware. if not, a lot of times the hardware comes with a Data disc for installation. and still would be a good idea to update the drives for it if there are any upgrades.

Link (http://store.ubi.com/item.jsp?item=68214)
At the bottom of the official page it clearly says: DVD-ROM: 4x or better
It would be at least 5 CDs with it being at least 4GB of HD space. Probably more like 6 CDs.

Wait a second...I don't think that SCCT will be on a Dual Layered DVD. The only game on DL disc is MGS2: Substance (a crappy port).

But I still doubt that it will be on a dual layer disc.
